In a significant development for the renewable energy sector, ZOE Energy Storage has announced a joint venture with a local Saudi partner to construct the country’s first world-class battery storage manufacturing facility. This strategic initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the nation's economy and reduce its dependence on oil.

The project will unfold in two phases. The initial phase, targeting a capacity of 6 GWh, is set to commence operations in the first quarter of 2027. Following this, the second phase aims to ramp up production to 18 GWh, significantly enhancing the local manufacturing capabilities and reducing reliance on imports. This manufacturing base is crucial for Saudi Arabia to achieve its ambitious goal of generating 130 GW of renewable energy, complemented by 48 GWh of storage, which would enable 50% clean energy production.
