Illinois American Water Launches 2026 Art Contest
Illinois American Water is encouraging local students to participate in their annual art contest titled "Water Keeps Life Flowing." This initiative invites 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to express what high-quality water service means to them through art. Submissions are open starting October 16, 2026, and will be accepted until November 13, 2026.
Promoting Creativity and Awareness
The art contest is designed not only to inspire creativity among young students but also to raise awareness about the essential role of water in everyday life. The President of Illinois American Water, Brian Eisenloeffel, emphasized how water underpins vital activities such as drinking, cooking, gardening, and even supporting local businesses. He stated, "Water keeps our lives flowing by helping families, schools, communities, and the environment thrive."
The launch of the contest aligns closely with the observance of the U.S. Water Alliance's event, "Imagine a Day Without Water," which takes place on October 15. This annual event aims to remind individuals of the critical impact of water shortages and the need for reliable water sources.
Exciting Prizes for Participants
To encourage participation, the contest will reward up to ten winners with a prize pack valued at about $100 to share with their classrooms. The prize options include:
- - Creative Kids Pack: Art supplies like colored pencils, markers, and crayons.
- - STEM Education Pack: A science trivia board game, magnetic tiles, and Guess in 10 Animal Planet.
- - Classroom Party Pack: Activities such as Uno Junior, fidget toys, and Would You Rather? School Classroom Edition.
Winning artworks may be showcased in future communications from Illinois American Water, providing students a chance to see their creations recognized publicly. Previous winners can be found on the company's social media, including their Facebook page.
