Chunghwa Telecom Achieves Impressive Growth in Q1 2026 Financial Results

In a notable announcement on May 7, 2026, Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (TAIEX: 2412, NYSE: CHT) revealed its unaudited operating results for the first quarter of 2026. The company showed robust performance across key financial metrics, demonstrating resilience and growth in a competitive market. Notably, total revenue reached NT$ 59.99 billion, marking a significant increase of 7.5% year-over-year. This impressive revenue growth can be attributed to multiple factors, particularly strong demand in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.

Citing the impressive figures, Mr. Chih-Cheng Chien, the Chairman and CEO, stated, "We began 2026 on a strong note,
with all key performance indicators, including revenue and net income, outperforming our forecasts." The company's growth trajectory was significantly supported by the Consumer Business Group, which generated NT$ 36.73 billion in revenue, reflecting a 6.2% annual increase.

Chunghwa's Enterprise Business Group also exhibited strong performance, achieving an 8.5% increase year-over-year to NT$ 18.81 billion, driven primarily by advancements in ICT services. Additionally, the International Business Group showed a promising growth rate of 10.7%, culminating in a revenue of NT$ 2.70 billion.

On the cost front, Chunghwa Telecom experienced an increase in total operating costs by 8.3%, totaling NT$ 46.89 billion. These increases were largely due to growth in sales, ICT project expenditure, and higher personnel costs. Despite this rise in costs, operating income rose by 4.6% to NT$ 13.10 billion, underscoring the company’s strategic cost management and operational efficiency.

Furthermore, the net income attributable to parent stockholders recorded an increase of 3.2% to NT$ 10.11 billion, with basic earnings per share (EPS) hitting NT$ 1.30. Both the revenues and EPS surpassed anticipated quarterly targets, reflecting solid operational results despite challenging market conditions.

"Our mobile and broadband sectors are stable, bolstered by increased 5G adoption and improvements in Average Revenue Per User (ARPU)," said Mr. Rong-Shy Lin, President of Chunghwa Telecom. The company reported a total of 13.34 million mobile subscribers, a 1.7% increase year-over-year, and mobile service revenue climbed 4.4% to NT$ 17.70 billion. In the realm of fixed broadband, subscribers slightly rose to 4.45 million, with HiNet broadband users reaching 3.80 million, establishing a solid foundation for future growth.

Chunghwa Telecom's commitment to advancing its 6G strategies is indicative of its long-term vision. The phased deployment of 5G Standalone technology is set to enhance service capabilities, targeting high-traffic commercial areas for a seamless transition into the next generation of telecommunications. Additionally, the establishment of the 'CHT AI Factory platform' aims to foster AI-integrated applications, driving revenue growth from AI solutions in 2026.

The company continues to reinforce its sustainability objectives through ESG initiatives, emphasizing its dedication to environmental responsibility while strategically positioning itself to capture emerging opportunities in digital transformation.
