Discover the Exciting New Program at KDDI Museum!
KDDI Museum, located in the heart of Tokyo's Tama City, is thrilled to announce the launch of an exciting new immersive experience titled
'Save the Silent Radio! Radio Detective Squad Activated!' This captivating program will run from
August 2, 2025 to
October 3, 2025, introducing visitors to the fascinating history of international communication in Japan.
An Unforgettable Experience
The event invites participants to catch radio waves flowing throughout the museum and embark on a thrilling scavenger hunt, solving mysteries related to communication and radio. Designed to be both educational and exciting, visitors will work alongside ‘the Genius Radio Doctor’ to repair a legendary broken radio by hunting down a special ‘favorite item’ concealed within the museum. As KDDI says, this is more than just fun; it's an adventure to rediscover the joy of sound!
On the opening day, August 2, the museum will be free for visitors, making it an ideal venue for children's summer projects. Participants can also join free workshops to learn about radio programming or enjoy traditional summer festival games like shooting galleries and ring toss.
Learn and Create
The program is not just limited to solving mysteries. Families can engage in the
'Your Radio Station – Let Your Voice Ride the Invisible Waves' workshop, which focuses on learning about the mechanisms of radio transmission. This workshop is designed to educate participants on how voices reach listeners over the air.
- - Part 1: Understand the concepts of radio waves and communication.
- - Part 2: Create your own radio show based on themes you've chosen. Get ready to think of a topic before attending to really make your voice resonate!
Pre-registration is required for the workshops, which aim to engage the first
24 participants, with a recommended age of 5th-grade students or older, although younger children are welcome to join.
Fun for Everyone
The
KDDI Museum Enjin Events will also take place on the opening day, featuring free fun activities such as shooting games, ring toss, and more in the museum's lobby. Plus, KDDI Museum will have a special opening on Saturdays, traditionally a closed day, allowing free access to visitors.
