Embrace the Healthy and Sustainable Habit of "Mokatsu"
This summer, immerse yourself in the unique experience of "Mokatsu" at Kitasenju Marui, where you can explore the benefits of incorporating algae into your daily diet. From July 29 to August 4, the event will take place at the 2nd-floor Calendarium 3, inviting everyone to discover how easily they can add algae to their meals.
What is Mokatsu?
Mokatsu is a movement that encourages the inclusion of seaweeds and microalgae in our everyday diets to achieve a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. This initiative highlights the tremendous nutritional potential of various algae types, such as wakame and kombu, along with microalgae like Euglena and Chlorella. By embracing Mokatsu, individuals can benefit from improved health and contribute positively to the environment.
For those who may find seaweed hard to consume, health products containing microalgae like Euglena, Chlorella, and Spirulina offer a convenient way to reap the advantages of algae without the need to cook or prepare it. Even starting with just one meal, integrating algae can lead to significant changes in your diet.
The Mokatsu Project: A Collective Effort
The Mokatsu Project is a collaboration among 13 diverse companies, striving to promote the sustainable benefits of algae and create new value around it. Algae has long been integral to Japanese culinary culture, rich in fiber, minerals, and essential amino acids, which support a healthy life and help prevent lifestyle-related diseases.
With a variety of algae available, everyone, regardless of age or lifestyle, can easily include them in their diets. Moreover, algae are highly efficient to produce, serving as a sustainable resource that helps combat climate change in the form of blue carbon.
Participating companies include: AlgaleX, Ina Foods, Chlorella Industry, SARABiO, Sun Chlorella, Seki, Nikonikori, Pietro, Fujikko, Marui Group, Euglena, Ramura, and Rohto Pharmaceutical, among others. Together, they leverage their strengths to provide accessible and engaging experiences that support healthy, sustainable living.
Discover Your Perfect Mokatsu Experience
At the event's tasting corner, attendees can sample a range of easy-to-incorporate dishes that enhance the dining experience and demonstrate that a healthy diet can be delicious. The goal is for participants to find something they feel they can easily integrate into their lifestyles.
Moreover, the event features a limited edition collection called the “Mobukuro” (Algae Bag), which includes handpicked products from project participants. This selection includes snacks, supplements, dressings, and many more algae-related products designed to inspire enjoyment in diverse lifestyles and make starting Mokatsu accessible for everyone.
