Nightpeak Energy Launches Bocanova Power

On October 3, 2025, Nightpeak Energy proudly announced the commercial operation of its new battery storage facility, known as Bocanova Power, which boasts an impressive capacity of 150 MW. Situated in Brazoria County, Texas, this state-of-the-art facility is strategically located just 24 miles south of downtown Houston. Following a rapid two-year development cycle, Bocanova Power began operations in August 2025, marking a significant milestone in the region's energy landscape.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Financial Backing

The operation of Bocanova Power relies on the advanced Tesla Megapack 2 XL battery storage systems, which are manufactured in Lathrop, California. The project operates under a long-term power purchase agreement with an investment-grade power purchaser. The debt financing for this promising venture was co-led by Nord/LB and MUFG Bank, which facilitated a diverse range of funding sources, including a tax equity bridge loan, construction to term loan, and letters of credit. Traditional tax equity partnership financing also played a pivotal role in supporting Bocanova Power.

Hays founded Nightpeak Energy in 2022 to address a growing demand for dependable energy resources to support future grid operations and energy consumption. The surge in AI data center and manufacturing activities has heightened this need, leading Nightpeak to expand its energy infrastructure portfolio significantly.

Currently, Nightpeak Energy operates a total of 240 MW across various battery storage and natural gas generation facilities, with further energy infrastructure projects on the horizon in Texas and the Western U.S.
