Beko: A Top Sustainable Company According to TIME Magazine for 2025

Beko: Leading the Way in Sustainability

In a significant achievement for the global home appliance industry, Beko has once again been included in TIME Magazine's annual list of the World's Most Sustainable Companies for 2025. This prestigious recognition marks the second year in a row that Beko has earned a spot on this list, improving its ranking to 17th overall and securing the top position within its industry.

The annual ranking is produced in partnership with Statista, evaluating over 5,000 companies based on data-driven key performance indicators (KPIs) that assess criteria such as environmental stewardship, social responsibility, reporting, and transparency. This year, Beko rose remarkably from its previous year's 44th position, showcasing the company's commitment to sustainability despite tightened assessment criteria.

Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of Beko, stated, "The recognition by TIME and Statista proves that sustainability and scale don't have to be at odds. It's a source of pride to lead our sector, substantiated by tangible progress and industry-leading transparency. We believe in 'Sustainability That Scales', meaning we create systems that allow everyone and the planet to thrive at every level and in every market. This achievement is made possible by the hard work and dedication of our global team."

Beko's impressive ranking underscores its ongoing investments in energy-efficient manufacturing, principles of circular economy, and a solid Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. The company has focused on making a real, positive impact through various endeavors, including:

  • - Increasing the use of recycled materials across all product lines
  • - Ensuring transparent ESG reporting and enhancing supply chain traceability
  • - Embracing green innovation standards early in Europe and emerging markets

This recognition comes at a crucial juncture for consumer goods and manufacturing sectors, where the expectations for sustainability practices are growing. By integrating sustainability into its business model and operational framework, Beko exemplifies how long-term viability can be achieved alongside business growth.

Beko’s sustainability performance includes notable milestones such as:
  • - Installing 90.2 MW of renewable energy capacity within manufacturing facilities
  • - Utilizing 27,835 tons of recycled plastics in its products
  • - Recycling 1.86 million Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) units since 2014
  • - Achieving that energy-efficient products made up 61.9% of its turnover and low-carbon products accounted for 71.5%

Additionally, Beko's Ulmi facility in Romania, which operates on 100% green electricity, stands as a global reference point for low-impact manufacturing and has earned recognition from the World Economic Forum as a Sustainability Lighthouse.

Hakan Bulgurlu concluded, "This recognition goes beyond a mere ranking; it validates our belief in the necessity of scaling sustainability. At Beko, we intertwine environmental responsibility across all aspects of our business, from design and production to supply chains and the homes we serve. Our journey toward net zero by 2050 is reinforced by this milestone, showcasing the significance of credible data, strategic long-term vision, and anchoring sustainability into the heart of our growth."
