Tokyo's Creema SPRINGS Selected as Cloud Funding Support Platform to Boost Manufacturing

Creema SPRINGS - Empowering Manufacturing through Crowdfunding

In recent news, Creema SPRINGS has been officially recognized as a crowdfunding platform by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, aimed at supporting businesses through innovative funding methods. This exciting collaboration positions Creema SPRINGS as a champion for creators and small enterprises in Tokyo.

A New Era of Support for Small Businesses

Creema SPRINGS, operated by Creema, Japan's largest handmade marketplace, is designed to empower makers and entrepreneurs by providing a platform for crowdfunding their projects. With a sharp focus on fostering creativity, Creema SPRINGS is dedicated to backing various initiatives that comply with the Tokyo government's criteria for startup funding support.

Tokyo will offer a subsidy covering up to two-thirds of the listing fees on Creema SPRINGS (with a cap of 1 million yen) for qualifying projects. This initiative is particularly beneficial for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and other organizations like non-profits.

Supporting Diverse Business Projects

To qualify for this funding support, projects must meet certain criteria, which include:
1. Initiatives led by aspiring founders or startups.
2. Projects focused on developing new products or services.
3. Businesses contributing to the 2050 Tokyo Strategy through social initiatives.
4. Efforts aligned with HTT and Zero Emission goals.
5. Projects leveraging digital technologies.
6. Initiatives promoting women's empowerment.
7. Projects aimed at restructuring or revising existing business models.

Additionally, the financial assistance varies based on the category of the project. For the first three categories, funding can cover half of the fees (up to 800,000 yen), while other initiatives can secure two-thirds of the fees (up to 1 million yen).

Creema SPRINGS - More than Just Funding

Launched in June 2020 with the motto “Creative Freedom for All”, Creema SPRINGS has quickly grown into a prominent platform linking creators with supporters. With a network of over 310,000 creators and 21 million listed original works, it has established a robust presence within the Creema ecosystem. This crowdfunding service uniquely connects to Japan's leading handmade marketplace, Creema, enhancing visibility and support for innovative projects.

Moreover, Creema aims to revolutionize the CtoC marketplace by connecting creators directly with consumers, ensuring that remarkable handmade works get the attention they deserve. It strives for fairness in showcasing craft projects while fostering grassroots economic growth. Since its foundation in 2010, Creema has led the handmade marketplace sector with impressive figures: about 15 billion yen in total circulation, maintaining its status as Japan's top platform for handmade goods for five consecutive years.

Promoting Craft Culture and Real-world Engagement

In addition to its online success, Creema promotes craft culture through real-life events such as the HandMade In Japan Fes at Tokyo Big Sight and the Creema YAMABIKO FES, an outdoor festival blending music and craft. Such initiatives allow consumers to engage with creators directly and appreciate handmade culture in a tactile setting.

The partnership with Tokyo’s support program marks a significant step in establishing a fertile environment for innovation and creativity, thus ensuring that modern craft culture thrives amid contemporary challenges.
