Showcase's Role in Municipal Digital Transformation at the 2025 Fair
On October 8 and 9, 2025, Showcase Inc. participated in the Local Government Information Promotion Fair held at Makuhari Messe. This event marked a significant gathering of over 7,600 attendees, featuring displays focusing on digital government initiatives and innovative uses of My Number cards.
Showcase, known for its DX cloud services connecting enterprises and customers, showcased its latest solutions aimed at supporting the digital transformation (DX) of municipal operations. At the event, the focus was on "ProTech" services, which include robust identity verification technology.
Highlights of Showcase's Booth
The center of attraction at the Showcase booth was the
ProTech series, which aims to facilitate the digitization of municipal processes. The
ProTech ID Checker, part of this series, serves as an eKYC tool that allows for rigorous identity verification online. Additionally, the booth featured the
ProTech AI-OCR service, which transforms any printed documents into accurate digital text, and an automatic masking feature to protect sensitive information.
The AI-OCR service is particularly noteworthy for its ability to accurately read handwriting, achieving over 99% accuracy in converting images of documents into digital text. Attendees showed great interest in the AI analysis technology and the features that automatically assess image clarity.
Seminar on Transforming Municipal Workflows
At the venue, a seminar titled "Transforming Municipal Operations with DX and AI Implementation" was led by Yasuhiro Kida, the head of Showcase’s ProTech division. This session highlighted practical examples of enhancing operational efficiency through AI-driven image analysis and the utilization of My Number card IC chip technology in municipal workflows.
"ProTech AI-OCR can comprehend various document formats, including handwritten application forms and questionnaires, significantly automating manual data entry tasks, thereby reducing both time and costs," Kida remarked. The seminar detailed various functionalities of the AI-OCR service, including:
- - Text output from images
- - Document categorization
- - Automatic masking features for sensitive information
- - Quality checks for documents and items
During the seminar, participants expressed enthusiasm for the potential these technologies have to revolutionize municipal operations, particularly regarding the efficiency of processing applications and ensuring privacy through automatic masking.
The Future of the My Number Card
The session also addressed the current status and future applications of My Number card authentication. Kida emphasized the shift towards using public personal identification services (JPKI) and highlighted the My Number Portal API's role in providing citizens access to their personal data.
"We foresee that in the future, public identification services like JPKI will become mainstream, allowing users to scan their My Number card to access comprehensive personal information, which can enhance various administrative processes," Kida noted, expressing Showcase’s commitment to pioneering efforts in this sector.
In the follow-up survey conducted after the seminar, participants showed heightened interest in the:
- - Document categorization capabilities
- - Text output from diverse images
- - Automatic masking for personal information
This feedback indicates a strong focus on efficiency and information security among attendees.
Showcase aims to persist in advancing DX in municipal services by leveraging AI-OCR, eKYC, and other innovative solutions to achieve efficient and secure administrative procedures.
