CLOU Unveils Aqua-C3.0 Ultra High-Density Energy Storage System
At the Solar & Storage Live Africa event, held on March 26, 2026, CLOU Electronics introduced its newest innovation in energy storage technology, the Aqua-C3.0 Ultra. This ultra high-density energy storage solution is designed to meet the growing energy demands in Africa while maintaining efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Overview of Aqua-C3.0 Ultra
The Aqua-C3.0 Ultra comes in two configurations: a
DC/AC All-In-One version and a
DC-only version. Featuring advanced 587 Ah cells, this energy storage system showcases CLOU's third-generation pack design. By reducing the components by
30% compared to its predecessor, it achieves a remarkable energy density of
535 kWh/m² for the DC version and
480 kWh/m² for the DC/AC version. This makes the Aqua-C3.0 Ultra a leading product in its category.
One of the standout features of this system is how it optimally balances capacity and weight against dimensions, making it suitable for global supply chain needs. In comparison to traditional 20-foot containerized systems which provide 5MWh, 6.25MWh, and above, the Aqua-C3.0 Ultra allows an impressive
11% to 46% reduction in transportation costs per watt.
Innovative Cooling and Safety Features
CLOU's Aqua-C3.0 Ultra utilizes a groundbreaking liquid-cooling system that effectively covers both the battery and electrical compartments, as well as the built-in Power Conversion System (PCS). This advanced cooling technology enables the system to operate efficiently within an extended temperature range of
-30°C to 50°C (with an optional 55°C mode). Furthermore, this energy storage solution upholds rigorous international safety standards, such as UL 9540A and NFPA 69, thanks to its multi-layer protection mechanisms which include the prevention of thermal runaway, fire suppression, and explosion prevention.
The Aqua-C3.0 Ultra also boasts compliance with
IEEE 693 seismic design requirements and offers the highest corrosion resistance rating of
C5-M alongside an
IP55 protection rating, ensuring durability in challenging environmental conditions.
Advanced Battery Management System
Equipped with CLOU's Version 7.0 Battery Management System (BMS), the Aqua-C3.0 Ultra features high-precision data acquisition along with active balancing capabilities. This sophisticated system enables AI-driven diagnostics for cell health, providing early fault warnings that enhance overall reliability and safety.
Additionally, the DC/AC All-In-One version integrates grid-forming SiC PCS technology, resulting in a staggering
50% reduction in the time required for on-site installation and commissioning. It supports critical grid functions like primary frequency regulation and black start abilities, essential for effective energy management.
Successful Deployment Across Africa
CLOU Electronics has successfully implemented numerous projects throughout Africa, including locations like Rwanda, Cape Verde, and Zimbabwe, progressively establishing their footprint on the continent. They began their journey into this market in 2018 with a project in Rwanda, signifying their commitment to driving the energy transition in Africa.
As the African market increasingly pushes for reliable and efficient energy storage solutions, CLOU's introduction of the Aqua-C3.0 Ultra energy storage system at such a high-profile event is both timely and significant. The company remains dedicated to meeting the evolving energy demands of the region while reinforcing its leadership role in the energy storage sector.
