Sovrn Welcomes Jud Valeski as New Chief Technology Officer

Sovrn, a prominent data and technology platform dedicated to empowering content creators, recently announced the appointment of Jud Valeski to the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This strategic move is aimed at propelling the company’s data-driven capabilities and enhancing the services offered to its users.

Based in Boulder, Colorado, Valeski's primary responsibilities will include overseeing Sovrn’s engineering, data science, and technology initiatives. His extensive background in technology and strong entrepreneurial spirit are expected to play a vital role in navigating the rapidly evolving landscape of digital content and online advertising.

A New Era for Sovrn

In a statement, Walter Knapp, CEO of Sovrn, highlighted the significance of Valeski’s arrival: "Data and technology are rapidly evolving and changing the nature of what it means to be a creator, publisher, or platform. Jud brings the entrepreneurial, engineering, and data-driven leadership we need in a world where AI is redefining every layer of the open internet."

Valeski comes to Sovrn after a successful tenure at Honey Science Corporation, where he served as General Manager. There, he was instrumental in leading the company through a significant $4 billion acquisition by PayPal. His experience includes notable roles such as the CTO and Co-Founder of Gnip, a social media API aggregation platform that was sold to Twitter in 2014. Additionally, Valeski has held key positions at several well-known organizations, including Techstars, AOL, and Netscape.

Vision for the Future

In his own words, Valeski expressed excitement about joining Sovrn: "I have a passion for finding new ways of working through the utilization of technology and I have turned that into a very fun career path. When the opportunity to serve as CTO at Sovrn came across my plate, I knew it was the perfect next step for me."

He emphasized that Sovrn has built one of the most strategic datasets in the industry, which connects attention, identity, and purchases across the open internet. Valeski's mission is to ensure that the company’s technology stack is optimized for the upcoming challenges in privacy-aware, AI-enhanced advertising and commerce. "We're just getting started," he added, indicating his ambitious vision for the company’s growth.

Valeski's onboarding aligns with an exciting phase for Sovrn, which has seen remarkable achievements in early 2025. Notably, the launch of Signal Vitals, a unique dashboard for optimizing publisher ad inventory, demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation. Additionally, Sovrn introduced Commerce Audiences, a dataset designed to assist advertisers in reaching targeted shoppers effectively across its premium exchange and beyond.
