Meizu Makes a Splash at MWC25
In a bold move that has captured the attention of tech enthusiasts and media alike, Meizu has officially re-entered the global market at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The company's executive, Gu Binbin, shared the vision and strategy of the brand that has won fans both domestically in China and internationally.
Gu Binbin explained that Meizu's approach to globalization rests on two key pillars: market demand and technological innovation. He stated, "Our company operates in over 30 countries and regions across the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe. Each market requires tailored solutions, which is why we adopt the approach of 'global vision, local execution.'" This strategy ensures that Meizu's marketing, research and development, and customer support align with the unique dynamics of each market, forming the foundation of the localization strategy.
Looking ahead, Meizu aims to deepen its presence in these markets while exploring new opportunities. Binbin highlighted that the innovative strategies being implemented set Meizu apart from competitors, particularly the ecosystem of "smartphones + extended reality (XR) technologies + smart cars" coupled with a plan for "Complete Transition to Artificial Intelligence."
According to Meizu’s philosophy, smartphones, XR technologies, and smart cars are integral components of the digital future. Despite their different purposes, they can be interconnected through technology. At the center of this ecosystem is the Flyme operating system, which facilitates seamless interaction between smartphones, XR glasses, and cars, thus providing consumers with a coherent and intelligent experience.
For instance, users can set navigation routes via their smartphones, which can then synchronize information with the central controls in their XR glasses and automotive displays. XR glasses may offer real-time translation during meetings and sync meeting notes with mobile devices and computers. Furthermore, smart cars can automatically plan the best route based on consumer schedules, fostering efficiency and enhancing product value through multi-layered collaboration.
Last year, Meizu introduced its strategy for a complete transition to artificial intelligence, making AI a core component of all product development. This shift has led to the creation of a converged ecosystem, offering users a variety of intelligent features. For example, AI enhances functionalities in mobile phones like photography, voice assistance, and personalized recommendations. The XR glasses leverage AI for innovative features, including real-time translation and navigation assistance.
In smart vehicles, the Flyme Auto system, driven by AI, promises a smarter driving experience. The introduction of Flyme Auto has accelerated partnerships with Geely Group and is among the most widely adopted operating systems for in-car intelligent cockpits in China, installed in over 500,000 vehicles. As one of the rapidly growing platforms, smart vehicle sales featuring this system surpassed 132,000 units in January 2025, solidifying its position as the most utilized system of its kind.
To facilitate its global aspirations, Meizu has partnered with Geely, enabling its system to be utilized in 22 vehicle models from Geely, LYNK & CO, and other brands. Flyme Auto’s global expansion includes shipments to regions like the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and the Asia-Pacific, promising new intelligent experiences for thousands of consumers.
Notably, Meizu is a smartphone brand under the DreamSmart Group, which emphasizes environmentally friendly products embedded with artificial intelligence across three main sectors: smartphones, extended reality, and smart cars. With technological prowess spanning various industries, DreamSmart is recognized as a leader in intelligent ecosystem development.
Looking ahead, Meizu is committed to its "Complete Transition to Artificial Intelligence" strategy. The company aims to present its products globally, invest in product development, and expand its reach, all in a bid to bring better, fully integrated products to tech lovers worldwide.
