Gstar Subic Philippines Celebrates Launch of First High-Efficiency N-Type Module
Gstar Subic Philippines: A New Milestone in Solar Technology
On May 12, 2025, Gstar Solar made a significant advancement in solar technology by launching its first N-type high-efficiency module at its production base in Subic Bay, Philippines. This event marks the official inauguration of the plant, setting the stage for a new era in solar manufacturing within the region.
The newly launched module features cutting-edge N-type cells measuring 183.75 mm, configured in a bifacial double-glass format with 72 cells. This innovative design integrates several advanced technologies, such as non-destructive laser cutting, SMBB (super large multi-busbar) technology, and high-density encapsulation. By optimizing the spacing between cells and maximizing the active surface area, the module achieves a peak power output of 595 watts and a conversion efficiency of 23.03%. With improved bifaciality and thermal performance, it stands out among high-performance solar modules, making it suitable for commercial, industrial, and large-scale power plant applications. This product not only enhances electricity production but also contributes to lowering the levelized cost of energy, addressing the growing global demand for high-performance solar modules.
Automation and Smart Manufacturing
Gstar Subic’s production line boasts a fully automated process. During the design phase, factors like safety, stability, intelligence, and efficiency were prioritized. Following extensive optimization, the plant is now an integrated and smart manufacturing facility characterized by high security, low energy consumption, and robust compatibility with various operations. This design allows for flexibility in module type changes while maintaining high production levels and cost efficiency, essential for the mass production of high-efficiency solar modules.
Increasing Capacity and Future Expansion
The completion of the initial phase, which includes a capacity of 1 GW for modules and 1.5 GW for cells, confirms Gstar's exceptional project execution capabilities and operational efficiency. The company is now accelerating the construction of the second phase, targeting an additional capacity of 2 GW. This expansion aims to establish Gstar Subic as a leading and reliable photovoltaic industry center in the Philippines and South-East Asia.
The plant has successfully attained significant international certifications, including ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management, and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety management. This validation affirms Gstar's adherence to global standards. Furthermore, the company is actively pursuing its D-U-N-S® number to bolster its international credibility, enhance supply chain transparency, and strengthen its business reputation globally.
Mass production is set to commence on May 18, enabling Gstar to address the gaps in photovoltaic module manufacturing in the Philippines, while also introducing advanced production capacities that will elevate the local solar industry and provide a more diversified supply chain for the global market.
A Strong Global Presence with Enhanced Competitiveness
The Philippines has been witnessing a steady growth in installed solar capacity. According to its 2020-2040 energy plan, the country aims to boost its renewable energy share to over 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040. Gstar's new facility will provide a significant thrust towards achieving these ambitious goals.
Employing a strategic global deployment model termed '1+N', Gstar networks its manufacturing bases and service centers across various regions, including the U.S., India, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, UAE, and Egypt. The successful launch of the Philippine plant represents a pivotal milestone in Gstar's global outreach, enhancing its industrial framework and competitiveness in the global solar market.
In conjunction with promoting local production, Gstar continues to deepen its cooperation with global partners. During the upcoming Solar Storage Live event in the Philippines on May 19 and 20, Gstar will showcase its complete photovoltaic supply chain solutions, including silicon bars, wafers, cells, frames, modules, and energy storage systems. Industry experts, partners, and customers are encouraged to visit Booth 1-AA29 to explore the latest trends and development opportunities in solar technology.
