ICEYE Unveils the Next-Level Gen4 Satellite for Enhanced Commercial Satellite Imagery

ICEYE Unveils Gen4 Satellite for Enhanced Commercial Operations

ICEYE, the leader in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite technology, has made waves in the commercial space sector with the launch of its fourth-generation satellite, known as Gen4. Announced on September 9, 2025, this new offering sets a new benchmark in high-resolution satellite imagery, capable of achieving detailed captures with a resolution of up to 16 centimeters.

The advantages of Gen4 don't stop at image clarity. This satellite has extended its high-resolution field of view to 400 kilometers, significantly improving coverage for priority areas. As a result, it can deliver more images during each orbital pass, facilitating a remarkable increase in revisit rates for critical regions.

With the ability to capture up to 500 images per day, including a concentration of these within a 2,000-km wide area, the Gen4 satellite promises swifter and more efficient monitoring. This capability is particularly advantageous for defense and intelligence operations, as it accelerates situational awareness and boosts decision-making confidence in critical missions.

One of the standout features of the Gen4 satellite is its enhanced imaging data throughput. Imaging and data downlinking can occur simultaneously at speeds of up to 700 Mbps. This dual-functionality means that tasking, acquisition, and information delivery can happen concurrently during a single pass, thus providing near real-time monitoring capabilities.

The Gen4 satellite has also benefitted from a larger and more sophisticated antenna, which improves signal strength and image detail significantly. This advancement in antenna technology has led to a 250% expansion in high-resolution coverage, making it possible for a single satellite to monitor extensive regions, such as an entire naval fleet or a major border crossing, in just one scan.

This sophisticated imaging system also enhances ICEYE’s Detect Classify product, which leverages high-resolution SAR data combined with advanced AI algorithms to identify and classify various entities like vessels, aircraft, and vehicles with an incredible accuracy rate exceeding 90%.

Moreover, ICEYE provides national customers with Gen4 as a fully sovereign capability that is unhindered by ITAR regulations. This commitment ensures that clients can utilize the satellite’s capabilities securely and autonomously. The Gen4 solution comes as a complete package that can be operational within 12 months of deployment, encompassing a secure ground segment, comprehensive training, and ongoing software updates.

The initial batch of Gen4 satellites was successfully launched during the SpaceX TR13 mission in March of this year, solidifying ICEYE's status as a vital partner for governments and defense agencies globally.

Rafal Modrzewski, co-founder and CEO of ICEYE, expressed his excitement about the launch, stating, "After years of dedicated research and innovation, we are proud to announce that our next-generation satellite, Gen4, is now commercially available. This marks a significant step forward in delivering more images, sharper, faster, and more flexible to our customers worldwide."

He further emphasized, "Gen4 represents not just a technological leap, but also a demonstration of ICEYE's commitment to pushing the boundaries of SAR satellite capabilities. It transforms how governments and defense entities comprehend and respond to global events."

As the world’s largest constellation of SAR satellites, ICEYE is positioned not only to provide unparalleled monitoring capabilities but also to evolve its technology continuously without the need for new hardware developments. The team at ICEYE comprises over 900 employees across several countries, including Finland, Poland, Spain, the UK, Australia, Japan, the UAE, Greece, and the US, all united by the objective of enhancing life on Earth through superior earth observation technology.

ICEYE continues to set the bar higher in the satellite industry, ensuring that its users, from governmental bodies to commercial enterprises, can access critical data anytime, anywhere, regardless of the environmental challenges they face.
