The Launch of Subsidy Applications for Femtech Support Services

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has announced the opening of applications for the fiscal year 2025 subsidy program aimed at supporting Femtech-related services. This initiative promotes the integration of Femtech companies, healthcare providers, local governments, and enterprises, enabling them to address unique health challenges faced by women.

In collaboration with Asahi Advertising Co., Ltd., which serves as the program's secretariat, and NTT Data Institute of Management Consultation providing oversight, this program intends to enhance the workplace by supporting working women during significant life events such as pregnancy and menopause. The goal is to help women maximize their capabilities and thrive in their careers.

Purpose of the Subsidy

The primary objective of this subsidy program is to fund projects that utilize Femtech products and services, aiding in the improved balance between work and significant life events for working women. The approved initiatives will receive partial funding to advance services that cater to health issues specific to women, thereby enhancing workforce diversity and increasing corporate value in the long term.

This program anticipates supporting approximately 10 businesses across the nation, with subsidies covering 50% to 66% of project costs, which could range from 8 million to 10 million yen. Asahi Advertising Co. will manage the operation of the subsidy program, while NTT Data Institute will assist with the selection of successful applicants.

Only projects focused on the practical application of Femcare products, such as aromatherapy, dietary supplements, esthetic services, absorbent underwear, and wellness products, will be eligible for funding. Projects that already have predetermined evaluation sites will also qualify. Detailed criteria for eligibility will be outlined in the application guidelines.
