In the fascinating city of Kyoto, a remarkable event will take place from April 7 to 9, 2026, celebrating the cherry blossoms and the unique Kamiyama Spring Coffee. Hosted by Ajinomoto AGF Inc. in collaboration with Kamigamo Shrine, this spring café experience aims to promote both mental and physical wellness.

A Breathtaking Spring Experience


During this limited-time event, attendees will enjoy guided tours among the symbolic cherry blossom trees of the shrine, including the exquisite Saiō Cherry and the treasured Goshō Cherry, which has a history of over 150 years. The experience culminates with exclusive visits to the shrine’s nationally designated cultural assets, the Honden (Main Hall) and Gon-dan (Secondary Hall), all surrounded by the natural beauty of spring.

This year’s event marks a continuation of a successful initiative launched by Ajinomoto AGF at the shrine, where they have dedicated significant effort towards preserving cultural heritage and offering unique coffee experiences. Last year's event featured fireflies as a theme, and this year, the focus is on the enchanting cherry blossoms that embody the spirit of the season.

Engage Your Senses


Participants will also have the chance to engage in a unique “incense pouch making” workshop, facilitated by the renowned Yamada Matsukōbō, a traditional Kyoto brand that dates back to the Edo period. The workshop combines aromatic experiences with spring's essence, allowing participants to create their unique incense pouches infused with the fragrances of cherry blossoms and coffee.

Moreover, attendees can partake in a pairing experience featuring a special set of spring sweets designed by Kameya Yoshinaga, a prominent confectioner founded in 803. This delightful set will be available for a limited time during the event, offering a sweet complement to the Kamiyama Spring Coffee.

Upcoming Experiences


After the event concludes, additional workshops for incense pouch making will be held on Saturdays, April 11, 18, and 25. The final workshop aligns with a special cleansing ceremony, the Kōsōsai, to prepare for the Aoi Matsuri festival, which will be celebrated on May 15.

When attending the event, participants can enjoy a rich mix of culture, crafts, and coffee, making it not just a drink but a complete sensory journey through the flavors and sights of Kyoto in spring.
