Decarbon8-US Impact Fund: A Chance for Climate Innovators
The Decarbon8-US Philanthropic Fund is now open for applications for its 2025 funding cycle, aimed specifically at early-stage companies that leverage software and AI to combat climate change. Organized by E8 Angels, a nonprofit organization of accredited angel investors, this initiative seeks innovative solutions that can accelerate decarbonization efforts.
Empowering Climate Solutions
E8 Angels emphasizes the transformative potential of software and AI technologies in addressing high-stakes climate issues. According to Karin Kidder, the Executive Director of E8, these digital innovations offer a unique, scalable approach to achieving significant climate outcomes with lower upfront capital.
The applications window is set from now until June 20, 2025. This is a notable opportunity for tech entrepreneurs whose projects align with environmental sustainability goals. Previous recipients of the Decarbon8-US Fund have seen an average funding of $300,000, combining institutional support and direct investments from members of E8.
Selected applicants also gain access to mentorship and promotional channels within the E8 network, further enhancing their potential for future funding and growth.
Eligibility and Application Process
To qualify for funding, applicants must meet several key criteria:
- - They must present a software and AI-based solution geared towards climate innovation and decarbonization.
- - A revenue stream or signed Letters of Intent (LOIs) that project revenue for 2025 is necessary.
- - Companies should operate in the Pre-seed to Series A financing stages, currently have an open investment round, and be incorporated in the U.S. or Canada.
The range of acceptable tech innovations includes advancements in various areas, such as energy systems optimization, resource management, transportation solutions, and materials science—all aimed at progressing towards a decarbonized future.
Once the application process concludes, finalists will have the chance to pitch their ideas to the screening committee and E8’s member community. Important investment decisions will be finalized in early September 2025.
