Global Connect Show 2026: Fostering Chinese Innovation for International Markets

On June 1, 2026, Shenzhen, recognized as a global innovation hub, hosted the Global Connect Show Shenzhen 2026 (GCS SZ 2026) under the theme "Where Global Innovation Meets Market Opportunity." This ambitious event gathered over 80 leading technology editors, key opinion leaders (KOLs), channel partners, and business associations from North America, the UK, Europe, and Southeast Asia, alongside more than 100 Chinese enterprises looking to expand into international markets. The core focus encompassed three essential pillars: Chinese Brands Going Global, Global Channel Connection, and the dedicated Into the Enterprise series.

Founder and CEO Chris Pereira emphasized the importance of trust and genuine connections in the ever-evolving phase of Chinese brand globalization. 'The value of the Global Connect Show is not just about being seen but about establishing authentic and sustainable connections between Chinese innovation and global markets,' he stated.

China has witnessed the emergence of a new generation of firms excelling in diverse sectors such as consumer electronics, artificial intelligence, smart hardware, and robotics. As these companies transition into international players, there is an increasing demand for enhanced global communications, brand establishment, and reliable business networks. Pereira reiterated this by saying, 'These shows help amplify Chinese brands' voices on the world stage, allowing them to effectively narrate their technology and innovation stories while strengthening their international communication capabilities.'

During the event, Andrew Miles, Executive Chairman of Metro China and former President of Sam's Club China, highlighted the significant impact of China's evolving consumer market on the global retail landscape. He remarked on the strategic importance of Sam's Club China's localized operations as a valuable roadmap for Chinese brands venturing into international waters. The conference underscored emerging opportunities for Chinese innovation brands in the global retail domain, stressing the need for compelling brand storytelling along with robust local operational competency.

A key feature of GCS SZ 2026 was a roundtable forum discussing China Innovation × Global Retail Distribution. There were also VIP one-on-one business matchmaking sessions designed to connect participating brands with potential partners and channels. Additionally, an exclusive closed-door media exchange brought together over 80 international technology journalists and editors for corporate presentations and open brand showcases, creating invaluable opportunities for direct engagement and networking.

This year marked the third consecutive installment of the Global Connect Show. Du Yang, Partner at iMpact and GCS Event Director, elaborated on GCS's emphasis on meaningful connections over traditional large-scale exhibitions. 'This event prioritizes carefully matched encounters, in-depth exchanges, and a results-first mentality. Through curated invitations, hands-on experiences, and targeted presentations, GCS enables impactful interactions among companies, overseas media, channel partners, and industry stakeholders. By selecting Shenzhen for this event, we directly respond to the increasing demand for effective cross-border collaboration,' he explained.

The GCS initiative extends beyond a single day; it includes a China Innovation Tour. This extended experience seeks to immerse overseas media and channel partners in China's leading innovation ecosystems, facilitating direct dialogues with industry leaders across various tech sectors, reaching as far as the Yangtze River Delta. Customized visits are organized to exemplary companies such as Rokid, RoboSense, NAVEE, and KEENON, covering frontier areas such as new energy, AIDC, and LiDAR technology. Engaging directly at corporate headquarters, factory floors, and live product environments grants journalists an insightful view of the productive capabilities fueling China’s innovation advancements.

GCS continues to grow, evolving into a year-long global network, actively appearing in major international markets. Previous engagements included GCS @Shenzhen that introduced European and American media to China, and GCS @IFA 2025, which gathered over 60 premier media outlets in Berlin. Moreover, GCS @CES 2026 held in Las Vegas, highlighted collaborative efforts with prominent U.S. newspaper USA Today, attracting more than 80 international media outlets.

Looking forward, GCS is set to maintain its vigorous schedule by engaging with technology and consumer electronics hubs in cities such as London, New York, Berlin, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Dubai, culminating in another GCS at CES Las Vegas in January 2027. By doing so, it aims to create a robust pathway for Chinese brands to succeed globally.
