Alarmingly, in 2025, Fukuoka Prefecture is projected to experience approximately 8.02 billion yen in damages due to these types of scams, with social media investment fraud accounting for about 4.69 billion yen and romance scams around 3.32 billion yen. The situation is dire, with the average loss per incident now reaching about 10.53 million yen in damages.

In response to this troubling trend, the Fukuoka Prefectural Police have ramped up efforts to educate the public through their official website, YouTube channel, and via the crime prevention app 'Mimamocchi.' Their resources outline various methods of scams and issue warnings on how to avoid them. Regular information exchanges occur between Enito Group, the National Police Agency, and consumer protection organizations.

Since July 2025, Enito Group has engaged with different prefectural police departments to enhance public awareness on social media investment and romance scams. They introduced preventative educational activities targeting users of 'with' and 'Omiai.' Following their initial partnership with Chiba Prefectural Police, they extended their efforts to several police agencies, including those from Wakayama, Hokkaido, Hyogo, Osaka, and Saitama Prefectures, and to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police.

A representative from the Fukuoka Prefectural Police stated, “Social media investment and romance scams involve individuals meeting through social networks or matchmaking apps and maintaining contact without ever meeting in person. This often leads to the establishment of emotional and personal connections, eventually resulting in the victims transferring large sums of money under various pretenses such as investment fees, withdrawal charges, or promises of future marital engagements. The high average loss per incident is concerning, especially as younger demographics are increasingly affected.”

The collaboration with Enito Group is anticipated to lead to more effective outreach among local users of matchmaking apps, helping to diminish scam victim numbers.
