Verdagy and Petron Scientech Join Forces to Produce Sustainable Biofuels
In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Verdagy, a leader in green hydrogen electrolysis, has entered into a strategic partnership with Petron Scientech. This collaboration aims to revolutionize the production of biofuels, notably sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and e-Methanol, utilizing Verdagy's cutting-edge eDynamic® hydrogen electrolyzers.
Partnership Overview
On January 22, 2025, Verdagy announced that Petron Scientech, which boasts over 35 years of expertise in renewable chemical process technologies, will employ more than 320 MW of eDynamic® electrolyzers to generate green hydrogen. This hydrogen will be integrated into Petron's inaugural biorefinery project, focusing on low-carbon solutions for the production of SAF and e-Methanol.
Commitment to Sustainability
Petron has committed to creating multiple biorefineries that emphasize sustainable practices and reduced carbon footprints. Their collaboration with major airlines will ensure the procurement of SAF produced through Petron's ethanol and bioethylene technologies, along with partnerships with maritime companies for e-Methanol derived from green hydrogen.
Yogi Sarin, CEO of Petron Scientech, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: "We were in search of a green hydrogen solution that seamlessly integrates with our biorefineries and renewable chemical products. Verdagy fits that criterion perfectly, and we look forward to working together on various global projects."
Advancing Green Hydrogen Supply
Marty Neese, CEO of Verdagy, highlighted the company's mission to deliver green hydrogen at costs on par with fossil fuels, without relying on subsidies within a five-year timeline. This ambitious plan aims to enable widespread adoption while significantly lowering carbon emissions.
"Our electrolyzers are designed to integrate smoothly and in real-time with intermittent renewable energy sources, maximizing asset utilization and ensuring the world's lowest levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH)," stated Neese.
Collaborative Projects
The partnership between Verdagy and Petron includes the development of several biorefinery projects aimed at producing SAF, e-Methanol, biochemical products, and polymers. This collaboration not only marks a pivotal step in the biofuels sector but also exemplifies the joint commitment to advancing sustainable technologies.
