Pioneering Next-Gen Agriculture in Japan
Arianetech Japan, headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, is on a mission to create a sustainable agricultural model that balances productivity and environmental responsibility. As part of the April Dream initiative, the company aims to make significant strides towards establishing low-cost, low-carbon agricultural production through large-scale plant factories powered by automation, AI, and IoT.
Journey of Arianetech Group
The parent company, Arianetech Pte. Ltd., was founded in Singapore in 2001 as an electronics manufacturer. In 2013, the company pivoted towards agricultural technology, leveraging its advanced expertise to revolutionize urban food production. A pivotal moment occurred in 2015 when Arianetech secured a contract for Singapore's first artificial lighting-based hydroponic plant factory from Panasonic, establishing a strong foothold in the agritech sector.
The Vision Behind Arianetech Japan
Japan has long been a hub for advanced agricultural technology, with artificial lighting plant factories emerging as a reliable source of clean, pesticide-free produce. Japanese consumers have responded positively to plant factory vegetables, leading to a gradual increase in demand. However, extensive discussions with Japanese plant factory operators have revealed significant challenges. High electricity costs and excessive labor expenses are hindering their ability to maintain self-sustaining businesses. To address these issues, Arianetech Japan was established in 2020, with plans to commence full-scale operations by 2025 following the pandemic.
Moving Closer to the Dream
The company has already achieved remarkable advancements; its latest LED lighting systems can reduce the energy consumption for lettuce production by nearly 50%, consuming just 3 kWh per kg. This energy efficiency has garnered significant acclaim, allowing for reduced production costs that translate into lower retail prices, thus attracting more customers and enhancing competitiveness.
In Singapore, Arianetech has set up an autonomous plant factory that operates using autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and indoor drones. This facility serves as a flagship model for future low-carbon and low-operational-cost agricultural production.
With the foundation laid, Arianetech is now plotting to establish its own automated large-scale plant factory in Japan.

A Message from the Group CEO
Edwin Ong, CEO of Arianetech Group, shares his vision: "We have been developing equipment for smart agriculture and plant factories for years. The future of agricultural production relies on energy-efficient equipment that facilitates the automation of every process, from sowing to harvesting and packaging. However, completely removing human labor could paradoxically increase costs, making sustainable management unattainable. Our dream is to develop the necessary technology for full automation and operational know-how to build a next-generation agricultural model that maintains productivity and sustainability, contributing to global food security. We view Japan as a testing ground for realizing this dream."
