Poreva Open: A Revolutionary Challenge in Protein Design
In a groundbreaking initiative,
MegaRobo Technologies has launched the
Poreva Open competition, inviting teams from around the globe to test innovative protein designs generated through artificial intelligence. With
over 10,000 designs set for evaluation in standardized laboratory conditions, this competition seeks to establish a credible framework for AI-driven protein innovation.
The main goal of Poreva Open is to push beyond theoretical predictions and draw connections to practical scientific applications. To achieve this,
Poreva Open will include five main challenges, aiming to validate AI-generated protein designs against key metrics such as binding affinity, thermal stability, cross-species reactivity, pH selectivity, non-specific binding, and cellular function.
Registration Details
Participants can register starting
October 19, 2026. The competition is open to diverse teams, including those from academic institutions, research organizations, biotech firms, and AI companies, allowing for the utilization of various models, algorithms, and design methods. Each submitted design will undergo a double-blind experimental evaluation at MegaRobo’s
Megalaxy Lab.
Importantly, the results and accompanying experimental data will be publicly shared after the competition's conclusion, ensuring transparency and knowledge sharing while respecting intellectual property rights.
The Initial Challenges
The first set of challenges focuses on important protein targets:
EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor),
TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor-alpha), and
GLP-1R (glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor). Further challenges will be disclosed in subsequent competition phases. Selected protein candidates may advance to additional testing in biological models, such as organoids, enabling a comprehensive exploration of their real-world applications.
Awards and Timeline
Poreva Open offers a total prize pool of
$250,000, alongside $150,000 in lab credits to support participants in their research endeavours. The top ten competitors might even attract potential investments of up to
$1.5 million.
