Holoeyes Introduces Version 3.3 of Holoeyes MD with Advanced Surgical Simulation Features

Holoeyes Introduces Enhanced Surgical Simulation with Holoeyes MD Version 3.3

Holoeyes Inc., based in Minato, Tokyo, has officially released the latest version (3.3) of its medical imaging processing software, Holoeyes MD. This update aims to significantly refine the surgical simulation experience for healthcare professionals. Among its noteworthy enhancements is the newly implemented Incision feature, allowing users to manipulate 3D models in both virtual and augmented realities.

The Incision feature offers capabilities to carve or divide 3D representations of organs and conditions, supporting surgical procedures by assisting in tumor localization and simulation of surgical approaches. Notably, this feature is designed to complement the clinician's judgment, helping to visualize organ deformations and surgical techniques without performing automated diagnostics.

Key Highlights of Version 3.3

1. ### Expanded Surgical Simulation Options with Incision Feature
The Incision feature, equipped with Sculpt and Cut modes, broadens the horizons for surgical simulations. Clinicians can create customized VR models based on individual patient conditions or standard samples within a metaverse environment.
Sculpt Mode
This mode allows users to control a cutting tool resembling an electric scalpel to carve specific parts of a 3D model. Users can adjust the cutting width by manipulating a light blue sphere indicator at the tool's tip.
Cut Mode
In this mode, the cutting tool and slicing tool enable the user to divide parts of the 3D model. Divided parts remain intact as new entities in the metaverse, allowing further manipulation of these regions.

In both modes, it's possible to choose specific parts for carving or division. The option to display the 3D model as a wireframe enhances the ability to visualize internal conditions and vascular structures, aiding in pre-surgical planning and technique evaluation.

2. ### Collaborative Functionality Enhancements
The Incision feature operates in conjunction with other tools within Holoeyes MD, providing a more comprehensive simulation experience.
- Volume Display
By selecting Volumetry from the menu panel, users can access real-time volume measurements of parts and their percentages of the total model volume. Any carved or divided volume will automatically adjust the total volume calculation during simulation.
- Light Direction Adjustment
The update allows users to change the orientation of lighting on the 3D models, offering Downlight and Spotlight options that accommodate various surgical environments.

About Holoeyes MD

Holoeyes MD is a certified medical imaging processing software that translates medical images from CT and MRI into 3D models compatible with spatial computing in both virtual and real environments. It enables healthcare professionals to gain insights into the three-dimensional aspects of disease characteristics and organ depths that are challenging to convey on flat screens. Primarily utilized in surgical fields for treatment planning and procedure simulation, it is also an invaluable tool for medical education and training.
