Raytheon's $115 Million Expansion Boosts Alabama Missile Integration Facility Capacity

Raytheon Completes Major Expansion of Alabama Facility

Raytheon, a subsidiary of RTX, has announced the successful completion of a significant expansion of its Redstone Missile Integration Facility in Huntsville, Alabama. This $115 million investment has added 26,000 square feet to the facility, and it is expected to enhance the integration and delivery capacity by over 50%. This expansion not only signifies Raytheon’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for advanced defense capabilities but also strengthens its presence in Alabama, where the workforce has now exceeded 2,200 employees.

Barbara Borgonovi, President of Naval Power at Raytheon, emphasized that this expansion is a crucial move to enhance the speed and volume of missile delivery, allowing the company to meet the needs of its customers more efficiently. "This expansion marks an important step in our ability to deliver more missiles to our customers faster," she stated. "Our investment here demonstrates our commitment to making that a reality."

Since its establishment in 2012, the Redstone facility has rapidly grown to become a key player in missile production and integration, notably handling nine variants of the Standard Missile family and other sophisticated weapon systems. With the new expansion, Raytheon aims to improve its production capabilities further to address both immediate and long-term requirements for essential munitions.

Local and national leaders have highlighted the significance of Raytheon’s investment in the Huntsville area. U.S. Representative Dale Strong remarked, "Raytheon's continued investment in North Alabama strengthens both our local economy and our nation’s defense." He pointed out that this expansion will ensure that U.S. military personnel have access to advanced missile capabilities and will support high-quality job creation in the community.

In conjunction with this expansion, last month, Raytheon announced five pivotal framework agreements with the U.S. Department of War aimed at considerably increasing the production capacity and expediting the delivery of critical munitions across various facilities, including those in Tucson, Arizona, and Andover, Massachusetts.

Raytheon continues to evolve as a leading provider of defense solutions for the United States and its allies, a legacy built over more than a century. The company’s focus includes integrated air and missile defense, smart weapons technology, advanced sensors, radars, and space-based systems designed to meet increasingly diverse security challenges.

RTX itself is a powerhouse in technology and defense, with over 180,000 employees globally and revenues exceeding $88 billion in 2025. The company is relentless in pushing the boundaries of science and technology to redefine global safety and defense. Through its latest expansion in Alabama, Raytheon reaffirms its vital role in America's defense industrial base and its commitment to delivering advanced military capabilities on time and at scale.

As these developments unfold, the impact of Raytheon's expansion will not only be felt in the capabilities it provides to the U.S. military but also in the economic growth and job opportunities it creates within the Huntsville community and beyond. The future looks promising as Raytheon enhances its defenses and further solidifies its position as a leader in the industry.
