Introducing the Drink Container Reuse Service by Thermos
Thermos Corporation, a global leader in vacuum insulated containers, is committed to promoting a sustainable lifestyle that is both comfortable and environmentally friendly. On March 29 and April 26, 2025, during the home games of the professional basketball team Alvark Tokyo, Thermos implemented a pilot project for its innovative "Drink Container Reuse Service" at their booth. This initiative aimed to reduce the use of disposable drink containers at sporting events.
Over the two days of the pilot, a total of 145 participants utilized this service, borrowing 163 reusable tumblers. The collaboration with Alvark Tokyo, a partner in the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) contract since 2021, continues the efforts under the “My Bottle Promotion Project” to mitigate environmental impact.

Following the first game, a survey was conducted among the participants to gauge future interest in the service.
86% indicated they would either definitely use the service or were interested if given the opportunity. The main reasons for participation included:
1. Discounts on drinks (20%)
2. Environmental benefits (18%)
3. Interest in new initiatives (16%)
What is the Drink Container Reuse Service?
This service aims to decrease environmental footprints by encouraging the use of Thermos' reusable tumblers at home games. Thanks to Thermos' vacuum insulation technology, beverages can maintain their temperature, allowing fans to enjoy their drinks at an optimal temperature while reducing waste from single-use containers. Additionally, participating vendors offered discounts for beverages served in reusable tumblers, enhancing the initiative's appeal.

- Free rental of reusable tumblers at the Thermos booth
- Serving drinks in reusable tumblers at select vendors
- Eligible beverages included draft beer and canned beer purchased at participating locations
How to Use the Service
1. Visit the Thermos booth to borrow a reusable tumbler (vacuum insulation tumbler).
2. Purchase eligible drinks at participating vendors to fill your tumbler.
3. Return the tumbler at the designated return location.
Please note that tumbler loans are limited to 100 per game, and the service is only available for specified drinks and vendors.
Ongoing Collaboration with Alvark Tokyo
Since 2021, Thermos and Alvark Tokyo have collaborated under the SDGs Partner contract, promoting environmentally friendly initiatives such as the "My Bottle Promotion Project" and the introduction of special seating areas that serve drinks in vacuum insulated mugs. These measures aim to significantly reduce the use of single-use containers during home games.
