Training Program for Supporters: Addressing Pregnancy Conflicts and Challenges

Training Program for Supporters

Piccolare, a certified non-profit organization based in Toshima, Tokyo, is set to host a specialized training session on July 27, 2025. Entitled "Training for Supporters: Addressing Pregnancy Conflict Consultation – Understanding You So That You Are Not Alone," this program aims to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills to support those experiencing pregnancy-related conflicts.

The Importance of Addressing Pregnancy Conflict

The recent troubling news of child fatalities due to abuse highlights a persistent issue within our society. Shockingly, many such cases involve newborns who lose their lives on the very day they are born. Analysis shows that the majority of mothers reported as perpetrators often go through their pregnancy with unresolved conflicts and feelings of isolation, fearing to seek help or share their concerns with anyone.

"Pregnancy conflict" refers to the anxiety and fears experienced before the pregnancy is confirmed or shortly after the discovery of the pregnancy. It encompasses the myriad of feelings that may lead to dire situations, including the tragic phenomenon of abandoned newborns. Therefore, understanding and addressing these conflicts is critical to mitigate the associated risks and promote healthier outcomes for both mothers and children.

In light of this pressing issue, Piccolare's training program will showcase the experiences shared with its pregnancy conflict consultation service, 'Ninshin SOS Tokyo.' The training aims to reveal the underlying characteristics of individuals seeking help and to uphold the principles of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), enhancing participants' understanding of necessary knowledge, attitudes, and collaborative strategies with social resources.
