Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Wins Top Honors as 2025 Best Hybrid for Your Money

Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Declared Best Hybrid for the Money in 2025

In a recent announcement, the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid was recognized as the 2025 Best Hybrid for the Money by Cars.com, and it also claimed victory in the compact car category. This award underlines Hyundai's commitment to providing high-value and fuel-efficient vehicles. The Hyundai Santa Fe HEV also garnered accolades, winning Best Hybrid in the midsize SUV segment.

Cars.com employs a rigorous evaluation process to determine which vehicles offer the best value. For the 2025 model year, their assessment focused solely on hybrids that deliver the maximum mileage for the least amount of money. The evaluation criteria did not take into account vehicle equipment levels, quality judgments, nor variations from EPA mileage estimates. Instead, Cars.com created an efficiency-cost rating system, assessing whether the incremental cost of hybrid vehicles can be justified through savings at the pump.

Hyundai's Recognition Marks a Key Achievement

Ricky Lao, the director of product planning at Hyundai Motor North America, expressed pride in the recognition. He emphasized that Hyundai is committed to providing a diverse range of eco-friendly vehicles with advanced propulsion technologies: "As consumers evaluate their options for environmentally friendly vehicles, Hyundai offers various product platforms and a multitude of propulsion systems. Receiving this acknowledgment as the best hybrid across two categories showcases our expertise in alternative propulsion technologies and emphasizes the value inherent in hybrid options."

Jennifer Geiger, the News Editor at Cars.com, stated that Hyundai's strong showing in this year's assessment can be attributed to their vehicles that combine high miles per gallon with competitive pricing. The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid led the charge with the best efficiency-cost rating among all the vehicles analyzed for the ranking. Meanwhile, the Santa Fe Hybrid also earned accolades for its robust fuel economy and competitive pricing, complemented by rugged design and spacious, versatile seating.

Performance and Efficiency of the Elantra Hybrid

The Elantra Hybrid Blue variant is particularly impressive, boasting an EPA-estimated 54 miles per gallon combined (51 city/58 highway). The 2025 model year lineup of the Elantra also introduces a new SEL Sport trim, available with either internal combustion engine (ICE) or hybrid powertrains, appealing to a broad range of drivers.

In a further testament to its growing popularity, Hyundai reported a remarkable 46 percent increase in hybrid vehicle sales in April 2025, marking it as their best month for HEV sales to date. Notably, the Santa Fe HEV, along with the Tucson PHEV and Tucson HEV, achieved record sales thanks to heightened consumer interest in hybrid technology.
