GoNoodle and The Cat in the Hat Collaboration
In an exciting collaboration that combines education with fun, GoNoodle has teamed up with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation ahead of the highly anticipated release of
The Cat in the Hat. Scheduled to hit theaters on November 6, this partnership aims to get kids moving and speaking a lively, unique language known as 'Thinglish'.
The collaboration introduces a brand new video titled
Let's Speak Thinglish!, designed by the film's choreographer, Christopher Scott. This instructional video makes learning enjoyable as it teaches children to communicate using movements and body percussion instead of traditional words. By watching the video, kids will learn the Thinglish words for greetings like “hello” and “goodbye” as well as affirmatives like “yes” and negatives like “no”. The fun doesn't stop there; children will also create their own Thinglish names, adding a personal touch to the learning experience.
As stated by Eric Covert, Chief Creative Officer at GoNoodle, the partnership aims to ensure that children can engage with the beloved character in an imaginative way. He emphasizes the importance of movement as an effective means of communication, allowing kids to express themselves physically. The engaging style of the video promises to grab the attention of students, promoting movement, laughter, and learning within classrooms and homes alike.
Nationwide Movement Contest
To amplify the fun, GoNoodle is launching a nationwide
Minutes of Movement contest where classrooms and families across the United States can compete to log the most minutes of movement. In this contest, every minute spent watching GoNoodle counts as a minute of activity. The rewards are enticing; the winning classroom will receive a pack of movie tickets, granting admission for each student and their teacher to enjoy
The Cat in the Hat together on the big screen. Additionally, families who log the most movement minutes will win family ticket packs as well.
The contest runs from October 5th until November 1st, concluding just days before the film’s premiere. Winners will be announced on November 4th, making it a thrilling countdown to the film's release.
Why Thinglish Matters
For those unfamiliar with the concept,
Thinglish is a playful, non-verbal language that combines movement and creativity, inviting children to interact and express themselves in new ways. This dynamic language encourages kids to step out of their comfort zones, promoting both physical and social development. The opportunity to learn Thinglish also connects children to the enchanting world of Dr. Seuss, enriching their emotional and creative capacities while providing a solid educational foundation.
As Sarah Halloran, Chief Marketing Officer at GoNoodle, points out, the integration of
Thinglish into classrooms offers teachers a fun way to refresh learning activities while promoting physical fitness. It’s an excellent opportunity for families to engage in joint activities that foster connections and laughter, making moving together a priority.
