Diver-X Acquires Business License for EXOS Force Feedback Technology
Diver-X, headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, under the leadership of CEO Hiroto Sakoda, is pleased to announce that it has officially obtained a business license for the EXOS series of force feedback devices from CrossTech Management, based in Kyoto, as of December 1, 2025. This acquisition marks a significant move towards expanding Diver-X’s current focus on haptic feedback technology and developing new avenues in force feedback and robotic hand technologies.
Background of the License Acquisition
The EXOS series was originally developed by exiii, a company that created exoskeleton devices capable of simulating physical sensations in virtual reality (VR) environments. These devices allowed users to experience the counterforce when interacting with virtual objects. Following the disbandment of exiii, CrossTech Management took over the rights to the technology. Diver-X, renowned for its innovative ContactGlove VR controller series, has recognized that achieving a realistic “feel” and weight in virtual environments relies not just on tactile feedback that stimulates the skin, but also on incorporating force feedback, which activates muscles and tendons.
To further push the boundaries of XR (Extended Reality) hand interfaces and to facilitate the widespread adoption of these technologies, Diver-X decided to secure the EXOS license from CrossTech Management. The focus is now on the development of force feedback devices and robotic hands that can truly enhance user experience in immersive environments.
Future Business Developments: From Haptics to Force Feedback, and Towards Physical AI
Going forward, Diver-X plans to integrate its existing haptic technology with the newly acquired force feedback capabilities to enrich user immersion in XR. They also aim to apply these advancements in remote operation of robots (teleoperation) and to collect data for rapidly evolving fields within physical AI. This ambitious vision aligns with the blending of the physical and digital worlds, ultimately paving the way for next-generation interface solutions.
Key Products and Technologies Targeted by the License
As part of this contract, Diver-X now holds the rights and usage permissions related to a comprehensive array of products and intellectual property. The focus will include:
- - EXOS Wrist: A device that provides force feedback through wrist movements.
- - Five-Finger Haptic Glove: A glove designed to recreate the tactile sensations at the fingertips.
- - Hand Unit: The foundational unit for robotic hands and related devices.
Commentary from Former exiii CEO, Hiroshi Yamura
In the context of the burgeoning trends in Physical AI and Humanoids, we at Diver-X believe that the technologies developed in the XR domain are deeply interconnected. After five years of diligent work, we are thrilled to see our efforts continued in Japan in this new direction.
Diver-X was established in March 2021 and is rapidly growing, currently employing around 30 individuals.
