LONGi's Fourth Climate Action White Paper: A Commitment to a Sustainable Future



On November 19, 2025, during the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change held in Brazil, LONGi Solar Technologies made a significant declaration regarding its environmental goals. At the themed event titled "For Shared Future: Accelerating Climate Action with Innovation," the company unveiled its 2024-2025 Climate Action White Paper, marking its fourth iteration since the inception of these reports in 2021. This comprehensive document represents a pivotal commitment towards achieving net-zero emissions across its entire value chain by the year 2050.

The newly released white paper is noteworthy as it serves as the first to thoroughly benchmark its goals against both the International Transition Plan Task Force disclosure framework and the IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures standard. By doing so, LONGi meticulously outlines its strategic ambitions and the actionable pathways necessary to fulfill these ambitions in a clearly structured format.

Addressing Climate Change: An Integrated Approach



Li Zhenguo, LONGi’s chairman, emphasized the importance of global cooperation in his keynote address, stating, "Addressing climate change is a systemic project requiring global collaboration." He highlighted the significance of corporate responsibility not just in economic returns but also in contributions to environmental health. Li proposed four core initiatives aimed at building an integrated innovation ecosystem, enhancing energy accessibility, advancing international cooperation, and improving policies related to sustainable development. He called upon industries worldwide to adopt a mindset that emphasizes action over mere commitments.

LONGi, recognized as the first photovoltaic manufacturer in China to receive validation for its targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), has set forth ambitious goals within the white paper. By 2030, the company aims to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 60%, compared to its 2020 levels, while also cutting down Scope 3 emission intensity by 52%. Furthermore, LONGi is committed to ensuring the comprehensive deployment of charging facilities at all its operational sites by 2030.

A Detailed Emission Reduction Strategy



The strategies outlined for achieving these substantial reductions revolve around five central pillars:
1. Operational Decarbonization – Streamlining operations to minimize carbon footprints.
2. Value Chain Collaboration – Working in partnership with suppliers and customers to drive collective emission reductions.
3. Product Carbon Footprint Management – Assessing and managing the carbon footprint associated with LONGi products.
4. Climate Solutions Development – Innovating new solutions to tackle climate issues effectively.
5. Promoting a Just Transition – Ensuring that the transition to a sustainable economy supports all stakeholders involved.

These initiatives are underpinned by specific quantitative indicators and systematic tracking mechanisms, establishing a governance model that is both "quantifiable and verifiable." In 2024, LONGi reported operational carbon emissions of 3,184,782 tons of CO2 equivalent. While this reflects a 23.8% increase from 2020, it's an impressive 37% reduction compared to the peak emissions recorded in 2023. Notably, the company's Scope 1 emissions decreased by 8.0%, while Scope 2 emissions saw a remarkable 37.0% decline, indicative of substantial progress in enhancing energy efficiency and transitioning to green electricity.

In terms of energy conservation efforts, LONGi implemented 477 projects focused on electricity-saving technologies within 2024, translating to an estimated annual saving of 426 million kWh, or a reduction of about 250,000 tons of CO2 emissions. Moreover, the Group's overall electricity consumption per unit fell by 10.7% year-on-year, demonstrating improvements across various manufacturing stages—monocrystalline pulling saw a 4.27% reduction, wafer slicing experienced a 13.6% decline, cell production achieved a 26% cut, and module production lowered consumption by 19.1%.

Commitment to Renewable Energy



LONGi's commitment to optimizing its energy structure is equally commendable, having utilized 4.746 billion kWh of renewable electricity in 2024, which constituted 47.5% of its total electricity consumption, marking a 5.7 percentage point increase from 2020. This commitment illustrates LONGi's progression from a leading single product supplier to a key player advocating for an integrated zero-carbon energy ecosystem.

As Li Zhenguo articulated on the significant international stage of COP30, "The green transition is not just a responsibility, but also a new development opportunity." Through the release of this white paper, LONGi has presented a coherent and practical roadmap, reinforcing its readiness and ability as a Chinese corporation to confront the climate crisis. This endeavor not only serves to bolster the sustainable growth of the company but also positions it as a vital leader in facilitating the low-carbon transition for the global photovoltaic sector.
