On September 7, 2023, Kawai Juku Chikusa school in Nagoya officially tested an innovative learning nutrition service named 'Stamitas', developed in collaboration with Nippon Ham Co., Ltd. This service aims to solve the nutritional challenges faced by students attending extra classes by providing balanced meals through a frozen vending machine set up on the campus.

Background of the Service Development

In Kawai Juku's various branches, many students have their meals during lunch breaks or evenings. Although parents are increasingly concerned about their children's nutrition, the tutoring centers have been unable to provide adequate support, creating a noticeable issue. Additionally, during interviews conducted by Nippon Ham with parents of students, many expressed worries regarding the nutritional balance of meals eaten before classes. Moreover, parents wish to assist in enhancing their children’s academic performance through proper nutrition.

Recognizing these concerns, both Kawai Juku and Nippon Ham aligned their goals to support students in their learning environment. This motivated the decision to conduct a collaborative test launch at the Chikusa school.

About 'Stamitas' Learning Nutrition Service

The newly developed 'Stamitas' is a unique student meal service focusing on five key areas: concentration care, immune system support, sleep support, brain care, and eye care. By resolving issues related to food intake during studies, 'Stamitas' aims to foster better learning outcomes.

Among the newly developed products for this service is 'Hiramekinpa', which has been carefully supervised by a sports nutritionist affiliated with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. The menu features three popular dishes: fried chicken, bibimbap, and pork ginger stir-fry, designed to provide a well-balanced meal in a convenient one-handed format. These foods are not only easy to consume while studying or engaging in sports, but they also offer essential protein, which is crucial for stimulating the secretion of dopamine—boosting motivation—and serotonin—promoting mental stability. Therefore, they present an ideal supplementary nutrient to ingest before classes.

Product Lineup

In addition to the three main items, there are options for one-plate meals featuring fish as the main dish. The meals are designed to be conveniently accessed and consumed as a pre-class snack, further enhancing the students' learning experiences.

Details of the 'Stamitas' Test Launch at Kawai Juku

The Kawai Juku Chikusa school serves a broad range of students, from junior high to high school graduates, making it a large and diverse tutoring center. The 'Stamitas' frozen vending machine will be located in the fourth-floor lounge. Students will place their orders using a dedicated app on their smartphones. Once the purchasing process is completed, the vending machine lock will be released, allowing students to collect their selected meal. Payments will be processed via cashless transactions, making it convenient.

Moreover, parents can also purchase meals on behalf of their children. The food can be heated using a microwave in the lounge before being enjoyed, ensuring a hot and fresh meal right on campus. The vending machine will be managed remotely, monitoring temperature and expiration dates for safety, and product collection will require user authentication for added security.

The test launch is set to run for approximately three months, after which plans are in place to roll out the service across other Kawai Juku branches nationwide, enhancing students' nutritional support in their educational journey.
