Starwood Pet Travel Secures $7,600 for Veterans Through Charity Initiatives
Starwood Pet Travel Boosts Funds for Veterans' Service Dogs
Starwood Pet Travel, an esteemed global pet relocation company that operates under veteran leadership, has successfully raised a total of $7,600 through two notable charity initiatives aimed at supporting K9s For Warriors. This announcement comes as part of the collective efforts to address the needs of military veterans living with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and military sexual trauma.
The funds were raised during their Veterans Day campaign, which took place from November 11 to 15, generating $4,600, followed by an additional $3,000 during the Giving Tuesday campaign from December 2 to 6. These donations are crucial to K9s For Warriors' mission, which focuses on providing highly trained service dogs to veterans at no cost, thus contributing to reduced suicide rates among veterans. The organization employs a research-based program that successfully pairs specially trained service dogs with veterans, many of whom are rescued animals.
Since its establishment in 2011, K9s For Warriors has matched over 1,200 veterans with service dogs while rescuing more than 2,000 dogs, creating powerful partnerships that offer emotional and psychological support. The process assists veterans in reclaiming their independence and emotional stability through the companionship of these dogs.
Starwood Pet Travel’s alignment with K9s For Warriors underscores a commitment to care for animals and service members alike, marking their support as more than just seasonal charity work. The company is dedicated to ensuring that pets travel safely while receiving compassionate care, making their involvement with K9s For Warriors a fitting extension of their values. At Starwood, the joy of seeing an animal find purpose and a veteran gain a life-saving companion mirrors the essence of their mission.
In affirmation of their ongoing commitment, Starwood Pet Travel has extended its collaboration with K9s For Warriors into 2026. Future plans include orchestrating additional fundraising events, launching awareness campaigns, and ensuring sustained support to enhance the reach of the K9s For Warriors mission.
Georgiana Strait, Marketing Manager at Starwood Pet Travel and an Army veteran herself, expressed the importance of support systems for veterans adjusting post-military. “K9s For Warriors changes lives, both for the Veterans they serve and the rescue dogs they save. Our team is honored to continue this collaboration and contribute to a mission that reflects the compassion and purpose that shape Starwood's work every day,
