Clean Energy for All: BLUETTI and UN-Habitat Expand Their Initiative to Nigeria

In a significant step towards enhancing energy access, BLUETTI, a global leader in clean energy solutions, has partnered with the UN-Habitat to expand their existing initiative into Nigeria. This collaboration, which originally commenced in Kenya in 2025, aims to support underserved communities across Africa by addressing their energy needs through sustainable technology solutions.

From September 7 to 10, 2026, this second initiative was held in Benue State, Nigeria, as part of the ongoing "Lighting An African Family (LAAF)" program. The initiative kicked off with a two-day workshop at Rev. Fr. Orshio-Adasu University in Makurdi, focusing on solar energy. The workshop included practical lessons on the fundamentals of solar technology and its various applications, fostering awareness of renewable energy in local educational institutions.

To enhance the learning experience, BLUETTI donated 50 PB200 solar lighting and storage sets for hands-on training. Additionally, the company launched the "Campus Ambassador Program" to further promote clean energy awareness among students and the surrounding community. The program is designed to cultivate future leaders who are knowledgeable about renewable energy solutions and their importance in today's world.

The initiative extended to Yelwata, a community in the Guma Local Government Area where reliable electricity access remains a critical challenge. BLUETTI provided 180 more solar sets to households led by women or elderly individuals, directly impacting over 1,000 residents. This generous act has not only improved families’ access to safe and stable electricity for daily use but also elevated basic living conditions, providing better opportunities for education, communication, and community development.

James Ray, a spokesperson for BLUETTI, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with UN-Habitat, stating, "It is an honor to work together again. This initiative has expanded from East Africa to West Africa, reflecting our shared commitment to enhancing access to clean energy in more communities across Africa." He noted that the LAAF program has already made a positive impact on over 60,000 people across the continent.

The partnership is poised for further growth as BLUETTI and UN-Habitat continue to implement clean energy solutions in more African countries. Their collaborative efforts aim to significantly contribute to a reduction in CO₂ emissions, estimated at around 337.5 tons, over the next five years, ultimately promoting resilient communities and sustainable development for all.
