Sumner County Enhances Public Safety with Innovative Software

The Sumner County Emergency Communications District (ECD) has recently completed the installation of the Caliber Public Safety software suite, a major advancement in their emergency communication and data management systems. This upgrade represents a significant leap forward in how the county manages emergency responses, ensuring that they can serve their community even better in times of crisis.

The successful rollout of the software suite comes after a comprehensive 14-month implementation process. This effort involved meticulous planning, training, and collaboration involving not just the ECD, but also Caliber Public Safety and 24 partner agencies. As Michael Guthrie, Director of the Sumner County ECD explained, achieving such a large-scale project meant that exceptional coordination was necessary. He noted how Caliber provided steady support throughout the entire process. From initial hands-on training sessions to on-site assistance during the launch phase, the support team ensured that the staff were well-prepared and felt supported every step of the way.

The Caliber suite includes innovative features like CAD NG (Computer Aided Dispatch Next Generation), Mobile solutions, and an Online Records Management System (RMS). These tools are designed to vastly improve operational efficiency, allowing responders to access information quickly and effectively during emergencies. In fact, the system assisted with over 3,000 calls within its first three days of operation, demonstrating its immediate impact on the district's ability to respond to incidents.
