Exhibition Overview
An intriguing dual exhibition titled
"I’ll Just Go Buy Some Eggs Since They Are Not Here" featuring artists
Misa Shigemitsu and
Isho Lee will take place at the
Copycenter Gallery from
May 19 to May 31, 2026. The exhibition delves into profound concepts such as "absence," "memory," and the intricacies of relationships with others, offering an immersive installation experience that touches on the delicate fragments and words that float within our daily lives.
Thematic Focus
The words released into our daily lives often continue to linger long after they have served their purpose, existing as empty spaces in our surroundings. Similarly, within our own hippocampus, memories may drift aimlessly, having lost their places. This exhibition invites us to listen to the silence that exists alongside being, encouraging visitors to reflect on relationships with others and the various forms of existence that may not be their own.
Artistic Expressions
Misa Shigemitsu brings a unique perspective shaped by an exploration of sound and poetic approaches. Her works focus on the invisible connections that shape our relationships, probing the essence of existence amidst absence. She creates sound installations that capture the unheard memories and stories contained within objects, emphasizing the fragility of connection and presence.
Isho Lee, on the other hand, employs a variety of media, centering on video installations. His latest works combine traditional animation techniques like rotoscoping with live-action footage, blending them to visualize the subtle fragments woven through daily life. This practice challenges existing societal norms and questions the visibility of personal memory and identity.
Together, they engage in collaborative creation that stems from the exhibition’s title, which embodies a playful yet poignant note. Using stencil techniques reminiscent of public space communication, the artists transform ordinary phrases into distinct visual forms throughout the gallery space, prompting visitors to notice and interact with them on new levels.

Artists’ Background
Misa Shigemitsu hails from Kochi Prefecture and studied music and composition at university, focusing on sound as a fundamental element in her artistic expression. She raises questions about the impermanence of existence from a non-anthropocentric perspective. Her installations and sound art pieces are tailored to exhibition spaces, contributing to experiences that transcend traditional boundaries. She has exhibited in various formats, including the duo exhibition at the Caroline Room Museum in 2023 and a solo exhibition named Sanctuary in 2024.
Isho Lee, originally from China, completed his graduate studies in painting at Musashino Art University in 2023. Now based in Tokyo, he investigates the relationship between individuals from diverse backgrounds and the existing order within urban spaces. By employing various media, he plunges into the invisible layers that permeate everyday time and place. Since 2020, he has focused on video works created through rotoscoping, and he is currently working on a series addressing themes of “food” and “the foreigner.”
