Celebrate Summer-Fall Strawberries in Azumino
The city of Azumino, under the leadership of Mayor Eiki Nakayama, in collaboration with renowned fruit shop "Shinjuku Takano" and "Ginza NAGANO," is excited to announce a special event dedicated to the unique summer-fall strawberries of Azumino. Scheduled for June 4, this event showcases the best of local produce, particularly the highly sought-after summer-fall strawberries.
A Highlighted Region
Azumino is celebrated as one of Japan's premier areas for summer-fall strawberry cultivation, thanks to its cool summer climate and pure underground water from the Northern Alps. Consumers attending this event will enjoy a comparative tasting of three distinct varieties of strawberries: the newly developed "Amaduzumi," known for its delightful sweetness and minimal acidity; "Summer Lyrical," which strikes a perfect balance between gentle sweetness and acidity; and "Suzuakane," recognized for its refreshing, robust tartness.
As a rare opportunity, guests get to taste the brand-new variety "Amaduzumi" in the Tokyo metropolitan area, which has limited harvests.

About Amaduzumi
Azumino's strawberries, called “Kashuu Ichigo,” are harvested during the summer and fall. For roughly two decades, under the guidance of "JA Azumi," efforts have been made to promote them as a local specialty. Unlike typical summer-fall strawberries with noticeable acidity suitable for various desserts, the new "Amaduzumi" variety boasts lower acidity while offering heightened sweetness and a fragrant aroma, setting it apart from its peers.
