Medline's New Campaign '10 Minutes That Matter' Focuses on Surgical Efficiency

Medline Launches the '10 Minutes That Matter' Campaign

Medline EMEA has officially launched a new initiative called '10 Minutes That Matter', aimed at highlighting the essential role of time in the operating room. This campaign seeks to underscore how seemingly small increments of time can significantly impact surgical efficiency and patient care.

Operating room teams function under considerable pressure, where both time and focus are paramount. The combination of a high workload and complex clinical responsibilities often leads to stress and burnout among surgical nurses. In preparation for surgeries, numerous logistical tasks must be managed, from assembling surgical components to handling waste management. The stakes are undeniably high when the health and safety of patients are at the core of these operations.

Research has shown that the use of custom sterile procedure trays (SPTs) can notably reduce preparation time. Studies comparing the efficacy of customized sterile trays against individually packaged instruments indicate a significant gain of over 10 minutes in overall surgical setup activities, as reported by operating room nurses. The time saved lets clinical teams dedicate more focus to the patient and the procedure itself.

Michela Toffali, the Marketing and Communications Director at Medline EMEA, explains the core idea of this campaign: "The objective is to make time visible. Efficiency gains can often be represented numerically, but those extra minutes hold real value in the operating room. '10 Minutes That Matter' highlights what time represents for those providing care every day."

The '10 Minutes That Matter' initiative is based on a simple yet impactful principle: increased efficiency translates into better support for both healthcare providers and patients. By streamlining back-end processes, Medline aims to empower healthcare professionals to enhance the healthcare system’s functionality.

Hervé Million, President of Medline EMEA, shares his vision for the campaign: "This initiative seeks to transcend efficiency metrics and emphasize the human value of time. Ultimately, we want healthcare professionals to focus their expertise and attention where it counts the most."

Medline's Customized Sterile Procedure Trays are designed to include all necessary instruments in one tailored sterile package, effectively minimizing the need to juggle multiple individually packaged items. This approach streamlines activities before, during, and after surgeries.

Since 2011, Medline has successfully delivered over 120 million custom sterile trays across the EMEA region, collaborating closely with healthcare providers to tailor kits to specific surgical interventions and clinical requirements. Regular reviews allow teams to adapt kit content as practices and needs evolve.
