NOK to Showcase Innovative Products at 2026 Automotive Technology Expo

NOK Corporation's Showcase at 2026 Automotive Technology Expo

NOK Corporation, a leader in manufacturing technology, will participate in the much-anticipated "Automotive Technology Expo 2026" scheduled to take place from May 27 to May 29, 2026, at Pacifico Yokohama. The company will be showcasing five new products and specifications that significantly contribute to the safety, reliability, and environmental sustainability of electric vehicles (EVs).

The showcase aligns with NOK's vision of being a central player in essential manufacturing, aiming to realize a future mobility society that is both safe and comfortable. Alongside established products, NOK will introduce innovative technologies that address electromagnetic noise, improve battery pack safety, comply with PFAS regulations, enhance lubrication performance, and streamline design and manufacturing processes.

Featured Innovations

1. End Face Sliding Breathable Brush (Prototype Display)

The end face sliding breathable brush is designed to be in contact with the shafts of motors used in EVs. Motors face challenges from electromagnetic noise caused by inverter switching, leading to issues such as bearing electric corrosion and radio noise. Traditionally, multiple components were needed for noise and dust protection. However, this new product integrates conductivity, dust-proofing, water-proofing, and a breathing function into a single unit, eliminating the need for additional mounting bolts and thereby reducing weight and assembly time enhanced layout flexibility.

2. Pressure Relief Valve Fitting Type (New Specification)

This pressure relief valve is critical for EV battery cases, allowing gas to escape safely during severe thermal runs. Given that gas buildup can lead to internal pressure increases, potentially causing fires or explosions, this product is designed with a sealed structure that maintains waterproof and dust-proof characteristics while safely venting gases during emergencies. Our newly added fitting-type valve contributes to reduced part counts by allowing installation without bolts, while our unique RUSTECTOR technology improves corrosion resistance in saline environments.

3. PFAS-Free Brake Shim (Prototype Display)

NOK has developed a low-friction brake shim that utilizes a coating free from PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), following the growing environmental regulations. Traditionally, brake shims relied on fluorinated coatings which are now facing scrutiny. Our innovative, non-fluorinated materials provide similar low-friction performance while addressing environmental concerns without compromising the braking efficiency.

4. Rubber Coated Metal Gasket Cover (Prototype Display)

This product efficiently combines a cover and gasket into a single piece, addressing the challenges posed by separate components regarding assembly count and labor. NOK is committed to enhancing manufacturing efficiency, reducing the number of parts and assembly time without compromising safety. This innovation is not solely applicable to the mobility sector but can extend into electronics and industrial applications.

5. Next-Gen PAO Grease (New Product)

The newly developed PAO grease accommodates a wider temperature range. Previous PAO greases required a selection according to specific temperature conditions, limiting application versatility. This new grease maintains the excellent low-temperature performance of existing products while enhancing high-temperature resistance by approximately 40%. It effectively reduces wear and prolongs component life, suitable for automotive applications such as sunroof gears and onboard actuator gears.
