The Newest Additions

Following the successful launch of the Japanese editions of Monet and Van Gogh in October 2025, the upcoming titles—Renoir and Bacon—promise to captivate Japanese art enthusiasts.

Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Regarded as one of the leading figures of the Impressionist movement, Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841–1919) is celebrated for his vibrant depictions of joyful scenes and human relationships. His retrospective at the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo in 2013 solidified his status in Japan’s art scene. This publication will feature 77 essential works, including masterpieces like The Luncheon of the Boating Party and Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette, exploring Renoir's enduring quest for happiness amidst the challenges of life, including poverty, war, and illness.

Francis Bacon

Self-taught artist Francis Bacon (1909–1992) emerged in the post-World War II era, known for his unsettling yet profound explorations of the human condition. His striking imagery often reflects the trials and traumas of existence, and he was among the first to openly discuss themes of homosexuality in art. This new release will showcase 78 remarkable pieces, such as Study after Velázquez's Portrait of Pope Innocent X and Triptych May-June 1973, offering readers a rare glimpse into the fascinating and tumultuous world of this iconic artist.

Looking Ahead

Additionally, the third installment of the Basic Art Series is already in the works, featuring British landscape painter J.M.W. Turner and the groundbreaking artist Marcel Duchamp, with a simultaneous release planned for Fall 2026.

As we live in an age where art is more accessible than ever online, these publications serve to enhance the understanding and appreciation of art history and the lives of the artists. They are designed to enrich readers' experiences and inspire deeper engagement with the world of art.
