Global Governance Seminar in Geneva Launches English Edition of Xi Jinping's Governance in China
Seminar on Global Governance in Geneva
On February 24, 2026, a noteworthy seminar focused on global governance took place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, coinciding with the launch of the English version of "China's Governance Under Xi Jinping's Leadership". This event attracted around 200 attendees, including representatives from UN organizations, diplomatic missions, think tanks, and various sectors of the economy.
Key Highlights of the Seminar
Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, kicked off the seminar with an address emphasizing the importance of dialogue, development, and cooperation for mutual benefit within the framework of Xi Jinping's proposed Global Governance Initiative (GGI) in September 2025. She posited that China has significantly contributed to bolstering multilateralism and urged nations to collaborate towards building a more just, inclusive, and effective international cooperation system. Valovaya pointed out that despite the profound changes in the global landscape since 1945, the United Nations remains the sole platform where all nations can convene to tackle shared challenges together.
Jia Guide, China's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, reinforced these sentiments during his speech, stating that unilateralism, protectionism, and hegemonism are undermining the multilateral order, pushing global governance to a new crossroads. He highlighted China's initiative to maintain international order while improving global governance, pointing out that the GGI has garnered support from over 150 countries and international organizations.
Fu Hua, President of the Xinhua News Agency, introduced the first volume of "China's Governance Under Xi Jinping's Leadership" to the audience. He remarked that the book provides a detailed overview of the unique governance practices and remarkable successes of the new era, offering readers deeper insights into Xi Jinping's dedication and personal charisma. Fu also announced that Xinhua has long championed the dissemination of pivotal concepts such as the GGI and pledged to actively utilize multilateral dialogue and cooperation mechanisms among media, think tanks, and international organizations, enhancing communication about China’s endeavors in constructing and reforming global governance systems.
Moreover, Xinhua published a think-tank report titled "Upholding International Justice and Jointly Addressing Global Turbulences - Focusing on China’s Approach to Global Governance" during the seminar. This report provides an in-depth analysis of the role that China plays in the evolving landscape of international governance.
This seminar, co-hosted by Xinhua News Agency and the Permanent Mission of China to the UN in Geneva, underlined the significance of China's approach to global governance, promising a collaborative future as nations recognize the necessity to work together more effectively.
Through venues like this, China aims to foster better international relations, contributing not just to its national interests but also to global stability and mutual growth, proving that dialogue is indeed the key to overcoming the complexities of today's world.
In summary, the seminar successfully showcased the insights encapsulated in the English edition of the governance volume while championing cooperation among nations towards more effective global governance structures.
