Coro Medical and PulsePoint Unite for Lifesaving AED Donation Initiative During Awareness Month

Coro Medical and PulsePoint's Lifesaving Initiative

In an inspiring move to bolster community preparedness for sudden cardiac arrest, Coro Medical, a prominent player in the medical device sector, has joined forces with the PulsePoint Foundation. This collaboration, dubbed Project AED365, is timely as it coincides with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, a critical campaign aimed at raising awareness about the importance of prompt emergency response.

From October 22 to 31, the initiative will see Coro Medical donate 10 automated external defibrillator (AED) packages to local responders who have demonstrated their commitment in emergencies requiring CPR or an AED. This generous donation package includes:
  • - A ZOLL AED 3, specifically developed to assist in critical heart emergencies.
  • - A three-year enrollment in the AED365 Pro Program Management, designed for the ongoing maintenance and quality assurance of the AED devices.
  • - A spot in the Remote Skills Verification (RSV) CPR/AED/First Aid certification course, provided by HSI, ensuring that recipients are well-trained.
  • - A LifeVac anti-choking device, adding another layer of preparedness for life-threatening situations.

Travis Harris, CEO of Coro Medical, emphasized the objective of Project AED365, stating, "Our mission is to make AEDs readily available in locations where cardiac emergencies are prevalent and support those remarkable individuals who respond in crucial moments. Partnering with PulsePoint not only acknowledges the efforts of first responders and bystanders but also underlines the importance of being ready to act when lives are at stake."

This campaign also relates closely to PulsePoint's ongoing initiatives, which are geared at enhancing community engagement during cardiac emergencies. One of the standout features is the annual AED Contest, encouraging participants to locate and register existing AEDs within their communities through the PulsePoint AED app. This grassroots effort contributes to the establishment of the National Emergency AED Registry (NEAR), which enhances visibility for first responders during critical moments. The contest allows registered AEDs to be shared with the public and 9-1-1 dispatchers, who can guide callers to the nearest AEDs, thereby facilitating quicker access during emergencies.

Shannon Smith, VP of Communications at PulsePoint Foundation, shared her enthusiasm about the collaboration: "We are excited to partner with Coro Medical for Project AED365, as it honors the courageous individuals who respond and offer assistance in times of need. By working together to broaden AED access and registration, we are fostering stronger, more resilient communities prepared to act in emergencies that require immediate intervention."
