ECOALF Launches New UTO Collection: Fashion with a Purpose
ECOALF, the sustainable fashion brand developed by Sanyo Shokai, is releasing its latest UTO Collection on April 22, coinciding with Earth Day. This new line features three types of shoes and three types of bags, all made from recycled ocean plastic bottles. The collection will be available at five permanent ECOALF stores, pop-up locations, and online through the official Sanyo Shokai website.
The UTO Collection's Mission
ECOALF is not merely a fashion brand; it is a pioneer in environmental conservation through its project "UPCYCLING THE OCEANS." Launched in 2015, this initiative collaborates with local fishermen to collect and sort ocean waste, transforming it into OCEAN YARN, a unique fabric developed by the brand. As the project expands, the variety and designs of products also evolve. This season's lineup includes items dyed with natural pigments, specifically designed to emphasize sustainability and the natural beauty of vintage aesthetics.
The natural dyes used in the pigment dyeing process are derived from environmentally-friendly materials, offering a safe and sustainable coloring method. The process imbues the textiles with a soft vintage feel and allows for natural fading over time, creating a unique experience for the wearer.
ECOALF's Commitment to Marine Conservation
The "UPCYCLING THE OCEANS" project is a collaboration between ECOALF and the ECOALF Foundation, aimed at promoting the use of recycled materials sourced from marine waste. Since its inception, the initiative has gained support from numerous fishermen and fisheries in the Mediterranean region. Remarkably, more than 1,700 tons of ocean waste have been collected from fishing operations between 2015 and 2024, with collaborations involving over 4,000 fishermen across 74 ports worldwide.
