A Unique Culinary Journey with Kakida Sushi
Kakida Sushi, a thriving initiative spearheaded by Unipotential Inc. under the leadership of President Ichihiro Kakida, has unveiled an exciting opportunity for food enthusiasts. With the launch of 'Sushi Making Tokyo Kakida', participants can delve into the art of sushi making at four prime locations in Tokyo and Kyoto. This immersive 90-minute experience invites individuals to roll up their sleeves and learn the craft directly from professional sushi chefs, where they can create and savor 10 pieces of delicious sushi.
The Evolution of Culinary Tourism
With the surge in inbound tourism, there has been a noticeable shift in preferences among domestic and foreign travelers. These days, the desire for engaging experiences—termed 'experiential consumption'—is overshadowing the age-old approach of mere sightseeing and dining. Japanese cuisine, and sushi in particular, has gained global admiration; however, opportunities to learn authentic techniques directly from artisans have been rare. In response to this demand, Kakida Sushi presents 'Sushi Making Tokyo Kakida' as not merely a display but a hands-on sushi crafting experience that bridges cultures through cuisine.
Program Highlights
Hands-On Craftsmanship
Participants will be guided by seasoned sushi chefs who teach the authentic methods of sushi making. This is not just an engaging performance; it’s an opportunity to learn and create sushi from scratch, ensuring a fulfilling and enriching experience.
Fresh Ingredients
The culinary experience spotlights ingredients sourced from Toyosu Market, ensuring that only the freshest fish is used in creating sushi. After crafting their sushi, participants can enjoy their creations on-site, amplifying the satisfaction of enjoying self-made dishes.
English Support for International Guests
Understanding that language can be a barrier, the program is designed to accommodate international guests with professional chefs who speak English. This enables anyone, regardless of their culinary background, to feel comfortable and capable throughout the process.
Memorable Photo Opportunities
Participants will don traditional Japanese 'kappougi' (aprons) for their sushi-making journey, providing a charming photo opportunity at the counter. This allows individuals to capture memorable moments and keep the experience alive long after the class is over.

The Vision Behind The Experience
President Ichihiro Kakida, born in 1990 in Hiroshima, has a fascinating background. With experience in finance and recruitment, he founded Unipotential Co., Ltd at just 25 years old. His venture into the restaurant industry sparked when a casual seafood bowl he prepared for employees gained traction on social media, leading him to open 'Yurakucho Kakida' in July 2022, despite having no formal sushi training. Through creative branding and social media strategies, the restaurant rapidly grew into a highly sought-after dining destination.
Mr. Kakida commented, "Sushi is loved worldwide, yet opportunities for travelers to learn directly from chefs are few and far between. We aim to provide a genuine experience, allowing guests to learn, create, savor, and capture their culinary journey in Japan's rich food culture."
With 'Sushi Making Tokyo Kakida', both locals and visitors to Japan can gain authentic insights into sushi making, bringing home not just memories but also skills and knowledge that connect them deeply to the culture.
