Promoting the 'Picture Book Delivery Movement' on Tokyu Toyoko Line with New Posters

"Picture Book Delivery Movement" on the Tokyu Toyoko Line

The Shanti International Volunteer Association, based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has launched a new initiative to promote the "Picture Book Delivery Movement" on the Tokyu Toyoko Line starting from April 1, 2025. For nearly a year, posters showcasing this movement will be displayed above the windows inside the trains.

The posters aim to inform passengers about the initiation of the enrollment for the "Picture Book Delivery Movement" 2025 and give an overview of the initiative's activities. To make a lasting impression on commuters, families, and regular riders of the Tokyu Toyoko Line, the design prominently features children holding picture books alongside visuals representing a girl from Afghanistan and a boy from Myanmar. This approach hopes to engage even those who haven't participated in international cooperation, ultimately striving to raise awareness of this significant cause.

Through initiatives like the "Picture Book Delivery Movement," Shanti, as an NGO born in Japan, focuses on educational support and emergency humanitarian assistance both in Japan and abroad. The organization intends to foster a peaceful society that emphasizes the values of "living together and learning together".

About the "Picture Book Delivery Movement"

Since its inception in 1999, Shanti has been dedicated to delivering picture books from Japan to regions where they are scarce, allowing children living in difficult environments to experience the thrill of discovering new worlds. The joy of losing oneself in stories and learning diverse vocabulary is what Shanti hopes every child can encounter. The "Picture Book Delivery Movement" specifically aims to deliver translated picture books to Asian countries with a lack of resources, where Japanese books have stickers affixed with local language translations.

Over the years, this initiative has seen involvement from individuals, companies, and organizations alike, all of whom contribituing to a feasible form of international cooperation that can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life.
