Midea's First ProShop in Nigeria Opens in Abuja, Showcasing AI-Driven UNICOOL+ Series
Midea's First ProShop Opens in Abuja
On September 1, 2025, the leading global air-conditioning solutions provider, Midea, inaugurated its first ProShop in Abuja, Nigeria, marking a significant milestone in its long-term strategy for West Africa. This new professional store not only showcases Midea's commitment to innovation and local infrastructure but also introduces the next generation of air conditioning technology through its UNICOOL+ series, which harnesses artificial intelligence and advanced cooling technologies.
ProShop: A Tailored Experience for Professionals and Consumers
The ProShop is designed to meet the specific needs of both professionals and consumers, differentiating itself from traditional retail outlets. This store offers specialized consultations, post-sales support, and direct sales for households and engineering firms. The innovative approach enables easier accessibility to Midea's high-end solutions, facilitating efficient sourcing of equipment and services for large-scale projects. This investment underscores Midea's confidence in the West African market and its aspirations to build stronger, reliable relationships with partners and consumers alike.
Introducing UNICOOL+: Intelligent and Sustainable Cooling
In conjunction with the store opening, Midea unveiled its UNICOOL+ series—an advanced generation of smart inverter split air conditioners tailored for the unique climate and electricity conditions of West Africa. With up to 70% energy savings compared to conventional fixed-speed units, these units utilize AI-powered algorithms, such as ECOMASTER, integrated with the MSmartHome application for smart and cost-effective cooling management. Additionally, the COOLFLASH technology can lower ambient temperatures by 5°C in just 10 minutes, powered by a DC compressor.
The UNICOOL+ series is built to withstand voltage fluctuations with AVS protection and reinforced circuit boards. Furthermore, it comes with a 20-year corrosion protection warranty for its Hyper Grapfins and incorporates GenGear for generator efficiency and a one-to-two mode for greater operational flexibility.
A Partnership with the IOM: Empowering Communities
In addition to technological innovation, Midea emphasizes community sustainability and talent development. At the ProShop's inauguration, Midea signed a strategic agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This partnership entails donating Midea cooling solutions to the IOM and launching a joint skills development initiative in Nigeria. The project aims to equip local technicians with essential skills for the installation and maintenance of air conditioning systems, providing them with official certifications that will elevate service standards in the Nigerian market.
Sharon Dimanche, head of the IOM mission in Nigeria, praised the partnership for supporting vocational training among migrants, highlighting the role of the private sector as a driving force in humanitarian responses. Steven Wang, Regional Director for Africa at Midea RAC, reiterated the company’s dual focus on innovation and localization, which strengthens its role as a technological innovator and community partner in West Africa.
As Nigeria's market continues to expand, Midea's proactive measures for collaboration and community engagement lay a solid foundation for sustainable growth in the region. The opening of Midea's first ProShop is a significant step in revolutionizing the air-conditioning industry while fostering closer bonds with local communities.
