YOFC Achieves Milestone in Peru’s National Broadband Project with Enhanced Connectivity

YOFC Completes Major National Broadband Project in Peru

On January 20, 2026, a significant milestone was achieved as Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (YOFC) successfully launched its national broadband network in the Ancash region of Peru. This launch not only marks the completion of a pivotal infrastructure project but also heralds a new era of digital versatility for local communities.

The event gathered senior government officials, including Raúl García, the Vice Minister of Transport and Communications, and Angelly Epifania, Vice Governor of Ancash, alongside a range of community members and representatives from YOFC. Their collective participation underscored the importance of this project in bridging connectivity divides and fostering social and economic advancements.

Six years ago, the groundwork for this ambitious project was laid with a signed agreement between the Peruvian government and YOFC. This collaboration has culminated in the establishment of a robust broadband network that significantly enhances Peru's digital landscape. The project primarily focuses on reducing the connectivity gap across various regions of the country.

Employing its extensive technical know-how, YOFC has successfully deployed over 9,000 kilometers of optical fiber across four regions, connecting over 1,600 towns and impacting more than 1 million local residents. The network offers internet access to more than 4,000 public institutions, including essential services such as schools, hospitals, and police stations. This expanded access not only facilitates education and health services but also promotes digital literacy and civic engagement in these communities.

The construction phase of this project significantly contributed to local economies, generating over 5,000 jobs during its implementation. By nurturing collaborations with domestic partners, YOFC has actively fostered technology transfer and supported local business growth through increased opportunities.

The impact of improved connectivity extends beyond immediate access to the internet. It supports economic diversification and provides a platform for new business ventures, enabling local entrepreneurs to thrive in the digital economy. Moreover, the presence of reliable broadband infrastructure encourages foreign investment by enhancing Peru's attractiveness as a business destination.

As a leader in optical communications solutions, YOFC's commitment to delivering such comprehensive projects demonstrates its capability in navigating complex international infrastructure challenges. With this project not only operational but thriving, YOFC is now looking forward to expanding its presence in global markets, driving connectivity efforts even further.

Moving ahead, YOFC is poised to deepen its international partnerships and focus on enhancing digital infrastructures worldwide. The company’s overarching goal is to empower more regions to overcome digital barriers, thus contributing to a fair and sustainable digital ecosystem that benefits all.

This national broadband project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between governmental entities and private organizations. Together, they have laid the groundwork for a connected future, ensuring that technology serves as a bridge rather than a barrier in Peru’s development journey.
