Celebrate Earth Day with Georgia Natural Gas
On April 26th, in honor of Earth Day, Georgia Natural Gas is inviting residents and businesses in Atlanta to partake in a community e-waste recycling event at Lenox Square. Taking place from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, this initiative provides a chance for individuals to responsibly dispose of unwanted electronics, contributing to a healthier planet.
Make a Positive Impact
Georgia Natural Gas, a leading natural gas provider in Georgia, has partnered with Lenox Square, eWaste/ePlanet, and 11Alive. The goal is to collect at least 50,000 pounds of electronic waste, which can include a variety of items such as cell phones, computers, monitors, printers, and even radios. Maurice Baker, manager of community relations at Georgia Natural Gas, emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, "Each of us can make a difference, and by taking small steps like recycling, we can contribute to a healthier environment for all."
15 Years of Commitment to Environmental Stewardship
This is a significant milestone for the event, as it's the 15th year running and the fifth year it has been held at Lenox Square. The recycling process will be handled by eWaste/ePlanet, ensuring that discarded electronics are disposed of sustainably and responsibly. Founder Wilson Kieffer stated, "We are happy to take your unwanted electronics, regardless of the quantity or quality, and responsibly dispose of them using environmentally sustainable practices."
Greener Life Program
In addition to the recycling event, Georgia Natural Gas offers its customers the opportunity to opt into the Greener Life program, which is a carbon offset initiative. For a small monthly fee, participants can make their natural gas use carbon neutral. During the event, attendees will have the chance to learn more about this program and enter for a chance to win prizes, including a $500 Simon gift card valid at Lenox Square.
Safety Measures
To prioritize safety and adhere to social distancing measures, volunteers will be on-site to retrieve items directly from vehicle trunks, minimizing person-to-person contact. This ensures that participants can contribute responsibly while maintaining a safe environment.
How to Participate
Residents looking to partake in this meaningful event can drop off their electronic waste at Lenox Square, located at 3393 Peachtree Road NE in Atlanta. The community’s participation is vital to the program's success, and it’s an excellent opportunity for everyone to support sustainability efforts right at their doorstep.
