DTX Group Launches as a Global Powerhouse under Hussein Lookmanjee's Leadership

DTX Group Officially Launches as a New Global Force in Aerospace

The aerospace sector has witnessed a significant transformation with the official launch of DTX Group, led by Hussein Lookmanjee. This development is not just another corporate announcement but a major milestone reflecting a well-planned strategic evolution aimed at redefining international aviation maintenance.

On June 2, 2025, DTX Group proudly announced its official launch, coinciding with Lookmanjee's complete divestment from Drayton Aerospace and the acquisition of additional capital by Lion Capital. This strategic move allows Lookmanjee to fully dedicate his resources and efforts toward the growth and leadership of DTX Group, positioning it for a competitive edge in the global market.

A Vision Realized

The formation of DTX Group arises from a history of evolution within Drayton Aerospace, which initiated a dual approach in 2019: a regional business managed locally and an international division under Lookmanjee's oversight. The latter recognized Lookmanjee’s strengths in initiating operations from the ground up, leading the board to appoint him to spearhead international operations while allowing local management to take charge in regions like China. The appointment of Hong Qiye as the President of China in 2020 and Steven Young as CEO in 2021 only reinforced this structure, demonstrating an evolution tailored to the company's unique needs.

Despite Lion Capital acquiring a majority stake in Drayton's China operations along with eight Chinese partners, the remaining entities outside China—such as MRO businesses in Brazil—now belong to DTX Group, under Lookmanjee’s direct ownership. This organizational restructuring reflects differing strategic priorities between stakeholders focused predominantly on China and the international team at DTX with its broader aspirations.

Building a Global Platform

Over the past six years, under Lookmanjee's leadership, a robust global platform has been established, which includes the opening of several maintenance facilities, a new parts distribution business, and expansions into critical markets like South America and the Middle East. Drayton Aerospace has successfully transformed into a leading independent entity within the MRO market for civil aviation and cargo, showcasing Lookmanjee’s capability in strategic growth and operational expansion.

“Now is the optimal moment for this transition,” Lookmanjee remarked. “DTX Group has matured into a globally competitive entity that deserves a focused approach. This transition allows us to clarify and develop our initial vision for international growth with greater independence.” The plan includes reinvesting the profits from the divestment into strategic acquisitions, with three exciting deals expected to close by the end of the year.

Overcoming Challenges

Although the international strategy faced delays during the COVID-19 pandemic, DTX Group is now gaining momentum. Formally established in September 2024, DTX Group is headquartered in the Middle East and currently operates its parts marketing business in the United States, alongside two MRO facilities in Brazil. Looking ahead, the Group plans to launch another MRO facility in the Middle East by Q3 2025, with further expansions into Africa and Europe on the horizon.

DTX Group is set to operate independently, strategically positioning itself to capitalize on the global growth opportunities in aerospace and aviation maintenance. The international team, which has been meticulously trained and refined over the years, is fully integrated into the new organization and is ready to lead the next phase of development with a clear strategic vision.
