America's Next Generation of Innovators

The 2026 National STEM Festival, presented by EXPLR, promises to be an extraordinary showcase of student ingenuity, taking place from June 24 to June 27 in the spirited city of Washington, D.C. This event will bring together aspiring young talents from 40 states and four U.S. territories, converging to present their pioneering research as well as their patent-pending inventions. It is a golden opportunity for these young innovators to demonstrate their capabilities before esteemed leaders from various sectors, including government, business, and academia.

Highlighting Real-World Solutions

A central focus of the National STEM Festival is to spotlight student-led innovations that address pressing global challenges in fields such as healthcare, biotechnology, energy, and artificial intelligence. Organizers aim to inspire the next generation workforce by showcasing their groundbreaking ideas, which are set to transform these industries.

On the vibrant Open Build Day scheduled for June 27, visitors of all ages will be invited to engage with the excited minds behind these inventive projects. This date in particular is designated as a free public expo where 52 top-scoring students, selected through a national competition, will exhibit their working prototypes as well as advanced research findings. This hands-on event will feature exciting activities and experiences tailored for families, including giveaways, live demonstrations, and various design-and-make projects suitable for youngsters.

Some of the interactive highlights for attendees include:
  • - Exploring an interactive 3D digital cadaver via the Anatomage Table.
  • - Having the opportunity to handle NASA's STELLA satellite-science instrument.
  • - Stepping inside a mobile synthetic-biology lab for an immersive experience.
  • - Participating in the design, construction, and testing of paper airplanes, optimized with assistance from COSI and Boeing, to discover their flight capabilities.

Empowering Young Innovators

Jenny Buccos, Co-Director of the National STEM Festival and CEO of EXPLR, expressed her enthusiasm about this unique gathering, stating, “What makes the National STEM Festival so powerful is that it brings young people into the center of real conversations about the future. This platform allows the public to witness firsthand what innovation will look like in the years to come.” She emphasizes the critical need for engaging high school students in protoyping and design, equipping them to tackle the greatest challenges in fields that are increasingly demanding fresh talent.

Throughout the festival, students will also participate in a series of mentorship programs, masterclasses, and networking opportunities. Participating in the Creator Sprint with Roblox, they will collaborate to create interactive worlds that fit the festival’s theme, **
