Huawei Launches AI Education Center at MWC 2026
In an era where technology and education intertwine, Huawei took a significant step towards integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in basic education with the introduction of its AI Education Center (AIEC) during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 held in Barcelona. The summit titled “Education + AI: Embracing an Intelligent Future” brought together industry leaders and partners, showcasing Huawei's commitment to enhancing educational frameworks through innovative solutions.
Li Junfeng, Vice President of Huawei and General Manager of the Global Public Sector Business Unit, emphasized the pressing need for educational systems that can accommodate the growing demand for AI skills. The core mission of the AIEC is rooted in two primary goals: to lower the barriers to entry in AI education while maximizing outreach. This initiative is designed to transform traditional educational methodologies and deliver effective learning experiences tailored to various educational scenarios.
AIEC's Purpose and Functionality
The AIEC solution is structured around a robust computing infrastructure, model services, application platforms, and learning management systems that foster AI training across various demographics. It aims to equip students — from elementary to high school levels — with essential skills that will prepare them for a technology-driven future. By doing so, Huawei hopes to establish a solid foundation for domestic technological innovations and industrial modernization.
Currently rolled out in China's Zhejiang province, the AIEC has already partnered with CourseGrading to deploy its AI educational platform in over 500 schools. The platform is integrated with computational resources for AI application, along with extensive open-source models that facilitate practical AI learning projects. This initiative supports over 10 AI hands-on projects and more than 50 experimental tools and applications, with the potential to reach up to one million students in the future.
Global Demonstration Project and Future Directions
At the summit, Huawei also announced the launch of a global demonstration project of its AI Education Platform in collaboration with Pui Kiu Middle School. This project aims to introduce AI applications into the middle school curriculum, showcasing reliable and scalable models for digital education transformation worldwide.
The introduction of AIEC marks a significant milestone in the convergence of education and AI. Huawei is committed to being a technological bridge, fostering an open ecosystem with global partners to unlock every child's potential and create a future where equitable access to education and technological progress coexist harmoniously. As education continues to evolve, Huawei remains dedicated to harnessing the power of AI, contributing to a smarter, more inclusive educational landscape.
With the growing emphasis on technology in education, the AIEC presents an innovative path forward, ensuring that future generations are not only consumers of technology but also creators.
